Liquor Store at MCO?

Since we can't bring liquor on carryon luggage any longer, and we'll be going on a short trip to the World so we won't have a car, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a liquor store (or a shop that sells things like Baileys and such) at the airport.

I know you can get small bottles at the resorts, but if I can save a few dollars, I'll go that way.

I'm not that confident about putting the bottle in my checked luggage.

Thanks!

Rick

Hello, I am not sure about about any Store at MCO that sells liquor, but I know that you can buy it at the General Store at Boardwalk? Are you taking Magical Express to the resort or getting a town car to take you?

What about those new-fangled plastic bottles that a lot of liquer now comes in? I bought rum a few weeks ago and it came in this big plastice bottle, perfect for traveling! I would think that would be OK to put in a suitcase, especially if your suitcase has a hard shell as opposed to fabric.

Yep! LOTS of stuff comes in plastic now. Malibu, Smirnoff, Parrot Bay, Jack, Bailey's, ect. I love the new Bailey's mini bottles.

my wife and i are wine drinkers, so we'll be bringing these new small boxes of wine made by kendall jackson. they're about the size of a cube-style box of kleenex and each one holds 2 bottles' worth. they should travel very well in checked luggage as well.

Do not carry liquor in your checked bags. We brought quite a few bottle of imported Italian liquors from my inlaws condo in FL earlier this year and they never made it back. What a hassle. My mother inlaw was outraged that she had brought these back from Italy and now they were taken and of course she can't get them local so they cannot be replaced. Thanks Southwest and MCO baggage inspectors:fork: .

I know there is an abc liquor store on lake buena vista driveit isnt that far away but it depends if you have a vehicle to get you there.

There is an ABC store on 535 if you go left out of Hotel Resort Blvd (across from Crossroads) and go down about 1/4 mile, it is in front of Winn Dixie.

I have never had any trouble bringing alcohol in my checked bags. Every time we go to Mexico we always bring back Tequilla and stuff. Just wrap it in in a few plastic bags and then in a few tee shirts for extra cushion. I dont know if the plastic bottles would be better or not. Plastic cracks pretty easily, and I think It actually takes more to break glass, like dropping it on concrete. I would also be surprised if there was not a duty free shop in the Orlando airport, but then again I have not seen or looked for one while there.

There are two liquor stores located within a mile of WDW.

Walgreens on SR535 (Apopka-Vineland), has a liquor store connected to it. It is just south of I-4, next to Bennigans and Wendy's.

ABC Liquor also on SR535 (Apopka-Vineland). It is in the Winn-Dixie shopping centre, located north of Palm Parkway.

When we came home from Germany we had our suitcases stuffed with lots of wine and beer. All made the journey safely. I also took several bottles to and from Las Vegas with no problems. You just have to make sure everything is well padded.:D

Whenever we go, we just buy wine at one of the grocery stores (or at Epcot during the F&W Festival!). The grocery store is not too far outside the property but it might be tough to get there if you're relying solely on Disney transportation. I'm not sure if the grocery store sold liquor or just wine, I'm from PA and we have to get everything at the state store anyway so I'm not used to those kinds of luxuries; I'm impressed by the opportunity to buy a six-pack at a gas station!

Liquor is sold at a few of the sundries/gift shop stores at the resorts. We have found everything we need, FOR A PRICE. It is much more expensive. I checked the map from Shari71 and found dutyfree stores in concoures 1 and 4. Then you just have to be careful getting from the airport to your resort.

There are several liquor stores on 192 just outside of the world. I would steer clear of non ABC stores, as they are not as cheap as others around Orlando. The owners there seem to capitalize off the tourists and their dollars. The ABC on 535 is very reasonable and usually has just about everything you could want.

It might be worth a cab ride. Shouldn't be too much. A lot less than buying drinks from the bar all vacation long.

One idea, go to Downtown Disney and grab a cab. It will be less from there as the ABC store is about a mile if that from there.

Good luck!
