Quick question.. I have liquid medication and will have to take it with me to Orlando. For those who take medication, how do you pack that? Do you take it with you on the plane and when you go through the security check point do you show it to them?

No problem....just put it in a clear, quart size ziplock bag and take it through security.

All liquid medications are allowed on the plane. Keep it in it's original container, with it's label and place it in a zip bag. Carry your medications in your carry on, just in case. I have been asked to take it out of my carry on and have also been told I could leave it in so just ask the TSA agent which they prefer.

Along the same lines... I take fish oil pills (which is filled with a liquid type substance similiar to nyquil liquid caps). I do not want to carry the whole jar of fish oil pills (I was going to put all my medicine in a zip lock quart size bag). Do you think my fish oil pills will be problematic?

I carried my vitamins in a 7 day pill box with no problems as did my DH who takes oil filled gel caplets. Again, we just left them in the carry on with no problem.

I put all my prescription medications in a clear quart size bag with all their labels visible. I carry it in my carry on bag and I always inform security that I have medications in the bag before it goes through the scanner. As for non-prescription things, I've never had a problem taking Advil liqui-gels through security.

I'm a pharmacist and get this question a lot, especially around Spring Break time. According to the TSA website you can bring on any size/amount liquid medication - just make sure it is in the original container with clear labels. There's guidelines for medications, for people with diabetes and need to have testing and/or insulin supplies, and others with medical conditions.

Here's the TSA link that covers all that information.

And always remember one of the cardinal rules of traveling -- ALWAYS bring your medications in your carrying bag since your checked baggage may not make it to your destination at the same time as you!
