Linking Old Tickets

Two questions:

1. We have some old tickets (around 10 years old) that are no-expiration park hoppers with some days left on them. Are those linked to everything the same way as new tickets, or do I have to link them at a park at guest services or something?
2. Unrelated to MM+, but is there still no way to check remaining days on tickets without physically taking them to GS at a park?

1. I had never expire tickets from 2005 and was not able to link to my account. I had to physically take them to Guest Services and have them converted to new media (at no cost)...same number of days left, same ticket type (park hopper).
