I know I'm super late to this as it's been there for a while but, after seeing it in person this past weekend...I really don't like the new voice actor or speech pacing compared to the original.

To me, this new voice sounds like a movie trailer guy and not what I'd expect Lincoln to sound like, probably due to both the original version and also the movie done a few years ago.

Also, the pacing feels rushed. I don't know if they shortened the timing of it and made him recite it faster but it just doesn't have the same feeling.

It's not the first time they've changed the voice of Lincoln since the attraction opened, but going back to the original actor in 2008 was the right call and removing the man chosen by Walt to voice Lincoln in a show dedicated to Walt was not the best choice.

People would be surprised at the sound of Lincoln's actual voice. There is very little audio of what he sounds like, but it is not the deep baritone voice many people might expect. Sometimes it surprises people when they hear a voice of someone that they normally just have seen pictures of and such. I know how Jackie Robinson sounded for instance, but the first time I can remember hearing his voice.................it didn't match.

I agree; I like the original voice of the Lincoln AA better. The voice actor's name was Royal Dano, and I read in my copy of Bob Thomas' biography of Walt Disney that Walt was so anxious to get the voice right that he asked Dano to read Lincoln's speech a bunch of times, until Dano was exhausted. He read the speech again after that, and Walt finally liked the way he sounded, because he gave the impression of weariness and stoicism, which was how Walt imagined the real Lincoln must have sounded while giving his speech.

Frankly, I like the original Lincoln AA better than the newer ones. I think it looked more like the real Lincoln, and its simpler, yet still convincing movements, just seem more authentic to me.

Sadly, there are NO recordings of Lincoln's actual voice.

Edison didn't create his first recording until 1877. Lincoln was assassinated April 15,1865.

(April 9 1860- was the date a human was voice first recorded in Paris (with some qualifiers), but it was not a phonograph. It was an etching that showed the pattern of the sound a voice makes. The recording could not be played back as a sound though, at least not at that time. It was an image. It can now be played.)

IMO, Sam Waterston did a great job reading the Gettysburg Address. It might not sound like Lincoln's actual voice, but the intonation matches what I imagined Lincoln's to be. It is available on C-Span.

There are descriptions of Lincoln's voice, and some written records of the pronunciations he might have used.

Benjamin Harrison was the first US president to have his voice recorded.

There is supposedly a recording of Her Majesty Queen Victoria from 1888, but it is not very good quality.

Royal Danos portrayal of Lincoln so many times in a variety of appearances solidified in most people’s minds as to how they think Lincoln sounded. His looks which was close to photos of Lincoln helps the character connect even further. Dis would do a better showing if Danos part could in some way be returned.

That might be what I am thinking about then. Either historical records or people who wrote what his voice sounded like. From what I have heard it was a higher pitched sounds than you'd expect.
