Likelihood that SW: GE opens by second week of Dec.

Lots of people are waiting to book their next Disney World trip until after SW:GE opens. I know that Disney has projected a fall/late fall opening, but many message board posters have also indicated that construction is running behind. Just wondering if anyone has an educated guess. Disneyland's version is opening in June, according to Disney fanatics who've studied sure "signs."

Also, will Disney offer discounted rooms for the month of Dec.? We're thinking of visiting during this time before the Christmas crowds hit.

I think Iger himself said Summer, even though he did so by accident.

So Summer is the most likely season it is opening and the one that has a 90% chance.

I hope they do not experiment and remove fantasmic again. When American idol opened they substantially cut fantasmic. I could give a care about star wars and its fanatics. Do not touch my fantasmic

If the rate of booking by DVC members for Dec 2019 at 11 month mark is any indication Disney will not need to offer any discounts for early December of 2019 - the reservations are filing up faster than I've ever seen before.

Many have made bookings for November/December hoping to see SW:GE, it's July-Sept (and some of October) that have low occupancy, thus the offerings of Free Dining so soon this year as well as MNSSHP tickets.

I doubt we'll see discounts in December.

Thanks for the insight. That's what I was afraid of!!

Thank you for the response. Guess I'll just be paying a lot to see SW:GE.

I wouldn't look at the rate of booking for DVC in December for any correlation with this. December is *always* busy for DVC. Always.

I sincerely doubt for other reasons we'll see good discounts though.

Yeah always busy, but I feel the rate of rooms booking right at 11 months is high. You mileage may vary :)

True on the YMMV, I just see it about as usual. First of December has always been difficult. Kind of why I stopped going then.

It's when I almost always book my BWV points. But looking at all the resorts the booking look higher/faster this year. Of course we both know neither of us really know...

Like I said I gave up on it (though I still watch for giggles). Low points, holiday season has always been a draw. I know some want to go for SW and others want to avoid this year for the same reason LOL. Like you said none of us really know. I think my point swas one cannot use DVC as an indication as we book totally differently than CRO.

Disney generally doesn't offer many discounts during December to begin with. Even during the first 2 weeks before the massive Christmas crowds hit, there are rarely discounts available during that time because overall the whole season is just jam packed busy. It's not a time that I would ever expect to find something cheaper than normal.

Now the first week of January, right after the holiday crowds are gone, that might be a different story... :)

On a side note, can you imagine how quickly the Christmas parties are going to sell out, since I think there will be an even bigger crowd of guests this year. Sigh I remember when the Christmas parties didn't sell out, weren't that expensive and weren't crowded at all (all rides walk ons)... that was just 2014.
