Light duty jobs at Disney. Please share your experiences!

This thread was born from the "Disney getting sued by Goofy" thread:

Here are my Disney light duty jobs:

1. Making IDs in the Security Office. That wasn't too bad.

2. Inputing data for a Guest Relations Supervisor. After about 6 hours of data entry, I stretched my legs and hit the power strip switch. Lost every bit and bite of data! Mickey (my supervisor's real name) never showed me how to save the data on the disc. Had to start all over again.

3. Cashier at the marina. Problem was getting to the marina on crutches nearly killed me. My foot was broken in another unfortunate lifeguarding accident at Typhoon Lagoon. I think Lifeguards and Housekeepers have the most injuries.....another topic of debate!!

4. Answering the phones at the hotel front desk. I made one call to my wife (about 4 minutes) and was asked not to return. Oh well.

Best "weird job" I was given to do:

Had to sail a boat on Lake Eola to provide "atmosphere" for Disney Day in the park. Sweet job....easy overtime but not a light duty job. Would you believe that CMs now volunteer for this? Union members should NEVER volunteer!

Ok gang......lets hear your light duty jobs.

1- driving a van to health service and back...
2- driving the characters around backstage
3- Gantry (cleaning and minor parade float maintenance... bulbs, etc)
4- Clerical Work at MGM when I was on "no shared attire" restriction... friggin' allergic reactions
5- drop bottles with clues in MK for custodial CM's... we dumped the entire bag in 1 trash can and rode rides all day
6- greet
7- coordinators find a loophole in my restrictions and modify a costume so I can do 1 role the entire time... steel-toed velcro sneakers... GRREEEEEAAAAAAAAAAT....
8- food and beverage... at least I was fed
9- work in strollers... putting setting them up and breaking them down... WHILE WITH A BACK INJURY
10- filling squeeze breeze bottles in the tunnels at MK... so nice. Sit on my behind all day doing nothing...
11- costuming. after my first time doing it, I was no longer allowed to... lol.
12- drive to the airport... and back... and to the airport again... and back.. and then to celebration.. and back... and then run around the MK area resorts.. and back.
13- drive from toontown to the tunnel entrance... and back... and forth.. and back... for 18 hours.

that's all I can remember. I wasn't hurt THAT often.. most of the assignments are all on the same injury, I would just do different tasks.

to make sure custodial CM's were seperating the recyclable goods... ie, they'd track the bottles and get the number that actually were sent to recycling

what is light duty?

is this what they put you on if you are injured or is this just a name of position with revolving job duties that anyone can apply for?

well those sound like fun things, most of which i wouldn't mind doing. is there a job that lets you just move around and do different things because i get bored doing the same thing everyday.

There are hoppers/rescue rangers. I don't know what they are called now.

You might be trained in multiple lines of business (food, merchandise, custodial, attractions) or trained in one and work in multiple locations.

I don't know exactly how it works any more.

1) I broke my hand and my managers didn't want to move me from my store on Main Street (The Disney Clothiers/Athletic Club) so I was told to create magic....for like 3 weeks...I got to run around playing with kids and talking to guests. I was so sad when I got better!

2) Lost my voice on the Jungle and was moved to light duty for a week. I wrapped burgers and the Sunset Ranch at MGM one day...stocked shelves at the Contemporary Merch a couple of days and the worst of all jobs ever....filled ice buckets for 10 hours (was scehduled for 12 but faked passing out because I couldn't take any more @%$%@^ ice!
