You guys ever see that episode of Disneyland where they showed the "opening" of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland? You know, the one where the pirates hijack the Columbia and steal the women folk, crack open a barrel o' rum, and laugh heartily?

Makes me wish there was a Columbia at MK. I'd love to see this happen once a year! Were there ever any plans for a Columbia-esque ship at MK? I do know there was (at one time) two stern-wheelers...

Haha yeah I have that on my Curse of the Black Pearl DVD. Something similar to the Columbia would be cool. I could be wrong, but I think that DL rivers of America might be wider than WDW so that allows them to have two ships. WDW would have to do a major overhaul on the river if it were to happen and build a new dock for it.

No, missed that.

I'll say this about the Columbia era: judging from the bunks they're showing, those were some tiny people compared to today!

Ah ok, thanks both of you. A week hardly seems worthy of the word refurbishment, but Disney is Disney.

Piratical talk aside since it's a live steam boiler it requires periodic inspections and maintenance of valve packings and other things unique to live steam so it's usually down in Feb and sometimes August. We'd need one of the operating engineer CM's to give us the details of what happens as steam boilers are outside of my expertise other than knowing they require routine inspections.
