Just received our Disney Rewards Visa in the mail. We figured we would just charge everything from now until our trip on there (groceries, gas, utilities and other bills, online shopping etc) and put the money we would have used onto our card to pay it off every month. My husband is very disciplined with his finances so we won't keep a balance on it. I'm excited to see what we can rack up....
First stop, some online Christmas shopping at the disneystore.com! :)

Nice! I'm always amazed at the people who use credit cards that aren't tied to good rewards programs. It's like throwing away money.

I have the Southwest Premier Visa card. It has a $99 annual fee, but in exchange for all my charging to it (like the OP, we pay it off in full every month so there is never any interest), every 10-12 months I earn enough rewards points to fly our family of four from Upstate NY to Orlando and back for free, saving us $1,100-$1,400 in airline fares every year.

$100 to fly the whole family to Disney World and back every year -- as my mother would say, "You can't beat that with a stick!" :)

Thats the way we do it, we always go on our trips counting on extra reward dollars. Works out great for us. This upcoming trip we have already received the rewards redemption card ( over $350 )and will be calling in to load more on it before we go. It's like finding a bag of cash sitting at your resort door on day 1..

I know, I can't understand why people use credit cards without point systems either. I like getting a little extra spending money for Disney or whatever.

We paid for $1200 of our September 2013 trip with our Disney points. We pay all of our bills with the card and then pay in full at the end of the month. I have the premier card so I get double points at certain merchants but there is an annual fee. The points we make more than pay the annual fee. Also, there are special perks with the card...a few months ago, I was offered $50 in Disney rewards if I charged $2500 in 6 months. Easy to do...but you do need to be disciplined. And remember....the points do expires so always check your account. I think they expire after 5 years so plenty of time for us "Disney-junkies" to plan a trip. Get ready for people to tell you how much they love your card.....

We do the same thing...charge everything to the card and pay it off every month. We also have a Chase Freedom card which earns 1% in rewards $$$ but every quarter they have bonus categories that earn an additional 5% in rewards so we use that card for whatever the bonus category is (this quarter it's gas, theme parks, and Kohls). We take those rewards $$$ in cash and put it towards our Disney trips as well. We usually manage to accumulate $1200-1500 in rewards dollars for each of our trips.

I'm sure someone will come along and say that there are better rewards cards out there than the Disney Visa but we don't fly and we don't stay in hotels often enough to have either one of those category reward cards. We *do* go to Disney every 2 years so this card is perfect for us.

Enjoy earning your rewards!

I do the same thing. Currently have enough points to pay for all 5 of us to fly to WDW from New Hampshire. Wooohooo

I only rack up a small amount of reward dollars compared to others on here but even at about $75 in points, it's more than enough for some souvenirs for my small family. It's nice to have a part of your trip covered by the points.

Love the Disney Visa card! I use it like a debit card and pay it off every month, aside from when I have a Disney vacation booked! The 6-months interest free lets us vacation a lot more often, and the rewards points are a nice bonus. Be sure to take advantage of your discount at the Disney Store!

I always thought those Disney Visa cards were hard to get- I mean I don't have bad credit or anything, but other than my shared mortgage, I don't have ANY credit. After seeing this thread, I figured I'd go online and give it a shot....mine is on it's way! I manage the "household" account, so I figure each week I will charge all of my expenses and immediately pay it off- instead of using my debit card everywhere. Probably safer that way too :)

We love our card. Had about $350 for our trip this past summer and are saving for next years big trip. We have AP's and go a bit, but will do a whole week next summer (tacked on to a business trip) so we are hoping to have enough points to afford an upgraded room! I agree that for some there are probably "better" cards, but with the extra discounts, meet and greet at Epcot, and the smile I get when I use it- this is the card for us!

OP, I'm willing to help you out here. You'll get a TON of reward dollars. I will allow you to buy me a car with your card. (If you are unfamiliar with how to thank me, a fruit basket is nice. I'm especially fond of those edible arrangements, where the fruit is cut into flower shapes and put on sticks, but you should select the Thank-you gift, of course.)

:D Happy charging!

is this card like the one that Chase offers for Debit Cards or am I missing something completely here?
No, it's a credit card. For every $100 you spend, you get $1 to spend at WDW. Disney used to offer rewards with their debit card. Now it is just a debit card...but you get some little perks with it, like discounts on some stuff at Disney and the ability to get a picture that people without Disney plastic can't get.
