Legends of Kilimanjaro

I was thinking, what if for each continent for AK, a mountain is built to help symbolize. Knda like how all the Epcot mountains were planned (never got built). Currently, Asia has Everest. Well, Afrika has a ride called Kilimanjaro safaris and well, there is no Mount Kilimanjaro.

I then decided to tie in the idea of a mountain with African legends about animals and such (I know none). Well, I then decided to fit it in with a multilevel building inside the Mountain. This made me think of, what if 1 ride was a classic family friendly water-ride while the other is a nice thrilling coaster?

So basically, the area would start as an extension of the path where the parade floats enter and leave. The path would extend to a large plaza to a new theatre, the new home for the Festival of the Lion King (it would fit even though it is not a legend). Around the plaza would be several observation decks as well as an observation deck to view the mountain. (the path would curve up around the outside park side of the Safari. To enter the rides, guests would take another track through dense forests and some plain until they enter a cave. The cave travels further until guests enter a large domed room with a faux sky in the center of the mountain. (mountain would be around 180 feet tall so the dome would be huge). Inside, there are the loading stations for both rides. I will explain both.

You could say the dome has 4 floors. Bottom 2 reserved for the boat ride while the top 2 are reserved for the rollercoaster. Those interior is themed to the African night sky in the middle of the wilderness.

Boat ride- Guests would bould large 5 across boats and bard on a jouney similiar to Pirates or Western River Expedition. After loading, the boats goes up a lift and travels around on the second floor. until is falls down a waterfall and enters a show building behind the mountain (like how splash mountain works). The show building would be where the story takes place of course and guests are as likely to get wet as on Pirates.

The rollercoaster also loads on the first floor but that is it. The ride would be a nice looping coaster (either vekoma or B&M). Well the trains leaves the station and emerges in a trench outside, here, onboard audio tells about the story and the train enters a LSM lift in the side of the mountain (impossible to see coaster track from anywhere in the park unless your on the ride or in the mountain). While on the lift, the guests experience several darkride scenes (most above guests so everyone can see well). At the very top of the lift, the car travels around the top of the dome past several events before making a nice dive to the bottom of the mountain, the train exits the mountain again in a trench before re-entering and going through a nice loop in the center of the mountain. The train makes more lo-level turns outside before entering level 3 of the mountain and it goes through suspended elements throughout in a speghitti bowl fasion.

Now don't worry about poor show, the coaster would be heavily themed inside to look like trees, vines, and brush to give the illusion of being in a jungle.

Since the Pavilian houses a large boat ride and a full fledged coaster, this attraction could handle so many guests that Fast-pass might not even be neccesary. But this mountain would be a huge draw to the park and help bring family to the park as well as keeping true to being Disney's "thrill park".

This ride is very very similiar to WRE. But anyway, I will be drawing concept are for this and it will most likely be scanned (if the scanner works). I also would like a nice arial pic of the Animal Kingdom. Maybe the mountain can be built behind the Safari or in the middle...

I made a really crude drawing of a structural elevation of the mountain. I can't however update it until I find the shared folder between my computers. (I use photoshop to fix it up).

But I have newstats due to this as I found out some interesting things.

The mountain will be only 150 feet tall. This is due to the shape of the mountain, I was planning 180 feet but the width of the mountain would have been over 500 feet. I also made the sides steeper compared to the original mountain. It may look strange but the width would be killer. The dome in the building reaches about 125 feet above ground and the coaster is 100 feet tall. The water ride would be around 25 feet tall and the show building would be the same height. (boat falls before entering). I would say the dome is 200 feet in diameter giving more room than DL paris's space mountain in area due to height.

The rollercoaster could be completly enclosed and Darkride scenes could be built at the side of the dome themed as cliffs. The big drop of this ride would actually go through the structurework between the dome and the outside of the mountain and part of the boat show building could be built here too and even in the dome.
