Leaving in September!

Hi everyone, first let me start by saying that I love your site and have been gathering tips and hints from everyone in the forum. This is also my very first post so thank you for having me, so if i sound dumb i'm sorry, but thank you for having me!

My wife and I have been to the World several times without children. We just had our 1st in July 2008. After much back and forth as to whether or not we should brave it and take a 1 year old, we decided to go for it!:sohappy:

We will be going end of September into the first week of October. I understand the Epcot Food and Wine Festival will be going on at that time, in addition to the MNSSHP. Do you think crowds will still be lower despite those two events? We chose this time since we have the flexibility of not having children in school yet. I'd like to find out tips for a first time visitor with kids, but i know there are other threads for that.

Thanks again!!

i think we are going to be there at the same time! im going sept. 28- oct. 9th. you will have a blast ... crowds are a bit lower and the weather is much cooler than the beginning of sept. the nights of MNSSHP are great as alot of people dont pay the extra $50 a ticket and you can ride and get alot done!

Make sure you see MNSSHP it is totally fun no matter what the age. The fireworks and parade are my favorites not too mention the trick or treating or the characters dressed up for Halloween or the shorter lines or the candy.

The first weekend of F&W is crowded - at EPCOT.

WIth a small child, I would avoid that. Other than that, that time of year is a great time to go.

Hey there!!! So glad to she another member from my area, not to mention a fellow Eagles Fan... As you can see from my avatar we were in Disney routing for the birds when they beat the Giants in December!

I will be traveling to Disney the same time you are. We leave from PHL on the 22nd of Sept. (So Excited) I have been traveling to the World with my son since he has been 16 months old and it is so worth it! Even at such a young age the joy in their face when they meet characters in priceless

This will be out first time going to Disney is September, but were there in Oct of 2007 and it was great. Not to hot and the crowds were minimal.

I didn't have much time to really explore the Food and Wine Festival, but Epcot sure was jumping with guests. We did go to MNSSHP and it was awesome! I highly recommend going. The Hallowishes is my favorite fireworks display and the BOO to You Parade is not to be missed.

Hey maybe we'll run into each other while were there... We'll be the family decked out in our Eagles and Phillies gear:-)

Enjoy!

Thank you all for your responses, you've made me feel at ease a little more about going this time of year. We're also taking the Dining plan so i'm looking forward to doing some character meals with my baby girl! Speaking of which, i know they just recently made changes to the window for reservations. I need to wait until 90 days out from my trip date to make dinner reservations now correct? It used to be longer right? Feel free to throw out any suggestions if anyone has them, i'd love to hear where you've eaten and what you recommend with a 1 year old. My wife and I alone have done Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey, Mayan Grill, Hoop De Doo, Mama Melrose. With us having the plan i'd like to take advantage of some of the nicer meals, but mix in some character stuff. Is the Cindarella Royal table worth it? I'd like to mix in one of the Fantasmic packages so we don't have to stand in line for 2 hours, and can get reserved seating, Brown Derby??

Disneygirl, great to have another Philly faithful with me here! We would be leaving Sept. 27th - Oct 3rd. We will be def. have our Eagles or Phillies gear going, especially since football season will just be starting and baseball will be approaching playoffs.

LOL!!! The joys of being a Philadelphia Sports fan!!! We come home the 27th which is a Sunday. My family has Eagles season tickets, so I am just hoping that the 27th isn't a home game or I be hopping of a plane and running over to the Linc!!!

You are correct, the dining ressie window has changed. It is 90 days out. So you should be able to make ressies sometime at the end of June. I know for my trip I can place them on the 26th of June. We did the DP for the first time this past December and loved it.

If you are looking for Character dining, Tusker House at the AK, Ohana at the Poly and 1900 Park Fare are some of our favorites.

We also tried Whispering Canyon and Coral Reef for dinner and really enjoyed. Having steak for a change was a nice treat since I am so used to coming and eating quick counter service meals.

Enjoy!

I'm guessing you'll be coming from out of town...be sure to bring your daughter's stroller, the "good one" that reclines and has a canopy (or rent a jogger from www.ababysbestfriend.com-they'll have it waiting at your resort and they pick it up- cheaper than renting one on the park too) don't rent one from the parks!!! When my son was little, he would nap in his and DH and I could enjoy walking around WS while he slept.
