We are leaving in 7 days and I'm so excited! But I'm also nervous because my boyfriend will be using a scooter. It's the first time I've ever traveled with someone in a scooter. Just wondering if there are things we need to know about getting around. Any tips at all would be helpful. Thanks!

My tip is - [if he has never used a scooter, or doesn't use one very often] try to get some practice before you go. Other guests are often not paying attention to scooters and don't yield to them as they should, so the rider/driver has to be ready for "safety avoidance maneuvers". Places like grocery stores, Sam's, Costco, BJ's, etc are good places to practice, that provide scooters (in case he doesn't have his own & will be renting one while there).
Also, just fyi, guests on scooters who use Disney's bus transportation, will need to be able to drive it onto the bus and back it into the parking spot on the bus.
Cast Members will be glad to help with directions to Access areas to board an attraction (if he isn't able to stand in a line, whether standby or FP).
Just thought of another one - he will probably need to plug it in every night to re-charge the battery, and could need to plug-in during a mid-day break (if you take one), especially if you plan to be out from early until late - just be aware of how much charge he has remaining if you have been out for most of the day. I have seen guests drive right into their rooms for the night, I assume it's for security & for re-charging. Sorry if this is all "old news" or common sense that didn't need to be said, but having never needed to use one, I'm not sure I would have thought of some of these if I hadn't needed to be aware of info for others.
I hope you have a Wonderful, Magical time!!!

The worst part is getting the thing on busses, into your room, and through really thick crowds. Everything else is easy peasy. CM's at attraction entrances will tell you what to do. Just don't do what my mother in law did and blow the little horn at kids in your way!

Most of the bus drivers have been trained to assist with maneuvering the ECV into the securement location on the bus; you just need to drive it on and off, then let the driver take over. Ask them, almost all are willing and able to do it, it makes it much easier. If not, pull it in, go as far down the aisle as possible, and then back it in as if you are parallel parking a car.

It's cheaper to rent from a vendor than from the parks each day, plus the parks only have a limited supply of scooters. Don't forget to recharge the battery every night. The bus drivers WILL help you, but after the first couple times, you'll get the hang of driving on and backing into the spot on the bus. I've rented from Buena Vista Scooters, 407-938-0349- multiple times and plan to again next Spring. They deliver right to your resort and pick up when you leave. Some attractions you can take the scooter right into the queue for a short distance---a CM will then move the scooter to the ride exit so its waiting for you. If you park it outside a ride or restaurant though without CM assistance, take the key with you when you park. Magic Kingdom Main Street crowds can be a bit of a problem at times, but go slow and you'll be fine. HAVE FUN!
