Le Cellier Walkups

Hey all,

Given how hard has been to get an ADR for Le Cellier in recent years, combined with the fact that its a steakhouse and when I eat in WS, I usually want to eat somewhere a little different than normal, since there are steakhouses all around me here in the US...., I have never eaten there. Eaten at almost every other WS restaurant, but not there. My question is, has anyone without an ADR tried to walkup to this restaurant and wait for a table? Is it possible?

About as Possible as Snow in Orlando In July!!!!

Walkups were possible to an extent when lunch and dinner were both 1 credit on the DDP but now with dinner being 2 credits lunch will be more popular than before! For example, ive learned through wdw magic that the filet on the lunch menu is exact dame as dinner menu so i will be booking 2 to 3 lunches as apposed to 1 dinner had it been 2 credits for all meals!!

Lunch is now more popular and dinner is still hard to get :hammer:

It does happen, but ideally you want a reservation. It depends on time of day, time of year, party size, and some luck!

I've seen people walk up and try and either be told a flat out no or be informed they could be waiting for several hours and never get a table.

But as said above, if you have a small party and have the timing just right you could have some luck.

Of course you could also hit the lotto...

If your talking about being a walk up for lunch, don't expect it. However, dinner has fallen off a bit since it has become a "signature" dinner, while still on the hard side to get an ADR you have a better chance at getting a walkup now than, say, a year ago.

IMO, LC was and is overrated (a notch above an Outback type place and a few notches below a Ruth Chris type place). The food is overpriced for what you get if paying OOP. The cuts are disappointing, the food is usually salty and the other flavors just are underwhelming. Your better off sticking to the steakhouses you know and love.

If you are in the WS area, want a good steak and plan on paying OOP, give Shula's a call and see if they can accomidate you. Even though it is a chain they still have the best steaks on property.

Thanks for the replies! Ya know, I have never eaten over by the Swan/Dolphin! Sounds like it is worth checking that place out!

I really only want to eat at Le Cellier to be able to check out the atmosphere, and check it off the list so to speak :) I will try to do so with an open mind to give their food a fair shot, but yeah, I have read and heard that their steak is OK. Of course, if I can't get an ADR, and have no luck with a walkup, then at least I am not missing out on too much!

Oh, 'Ohana! That sounds like a good one!! That is definitely on my list! Mmm... Too many places to eat there, and so many sound so good! I think that is why Le Cellier is not too high on my list...too many other neat concepts of restaurants! But again, I am sure it will be excellent, and sounds like the atmosphere is pretty neat.

You would be better trying for lunch, but that's about 10% more of a chance than getting a dinner. However, persistance may pay off, it doesn't hurt to try :sohappy:

Yachtsman falls somewhere between LC and Shula's. Shula's is more expensive but there's a reason for it. There are usually few or no kids there so it is usually a nice quiet meal (unless there's a loud convention in town). If you do have kids, you have to ask for the kids menu. They don't advertise that they have one and they won't offer it unless you ask.

The 2 best restaurants on property are at the Dolphin, Shula's and bluezoo. Neither are on the dining plans and are usually more expensive but both are absolutely worth the money.

Thanks for the tips! I am sure the food is excellent! Having never been over there, and being someone who stays "in the magic" the whole trip, how is the theming over there? Are they just your average nice restaurant, or anything special/Disney about them?

Sorry that this thread has gotten so far from it's origional question. :lookaroun

I think they are above an "average nice restaurant". Not like, say V&A's, but nicer than the other signatures, IMO. As far as the restaurants, there is no real Disney theming about them. Shula's is on the dim, relaxing, quiet side with a lot of football type pictures (after all it is Don Shula's restaurant chain... that's why it's at the Dolphin). bluezoo is also really nice inside, a step up from most of the other signatures. The are great restaurants for like a "date night" sans kids or to take a break from Disney for a little bit. My girlfriend and I (we don't have kids but still have "date nights" in Disney) usually either play a round of mini golf before or after our meal (Fantasia Gardens is across the street) then after the meal or mini-golf we head to Jellyrolls after for some drinks and some singing (the Boardwalk is a short walk from the Dolphin and Fantasia Gardens).

Thanks For the info

Anytime. :D

We never plan a trip far enough in advance to book Le Cellier :brick: (We are spontaneous Floridians). My family and I used to frequent LC very often before this gigantic craze began, however Hubby has never had a chance to dine there. While I personally would never pay OOP for it every trip, we try and try every time. Prior to our trip I frequently check for availability just for luck's sake. During our trip we check concierge in the morning and walk-up every time we are in Epcot every time we visit (mind you, is 3 or more times a year). I will say from experience, the hostesses at the front (outside on the WS walkway) have never even looked at a list or computer before telling us there was no availability for the rest of the day. But there is never any harm in just asking. This huge effort is simply for the fact that I want Hubby to say he's eaten there. Personally, I prefer Yachtsmen's to LC any day.

The sad thing is, the couple of times we have been to LC, we have watched them turn people away only to find the restaurant is only 1/2 or 3/4 full. It never made much sence to me.

Thanks! Good info! Can't go wrong with some Mini Golf!!! ;)
