Layers or Wrapped up?

I had an argument with my husband earlier when we were taking my daughter to school, it was basically a difference in our parenting style, I am less stricter than he is which is why this situation arose.

Today was his day for taking her to school ( we take turn about each day) so because it was raining he put her jacket on and zipped it up then put the hood up which caused her to moan so I said to him, "why do you not put layers on her so that the jacket does not need zipped, that is what I do" but he just argued and said "this is how I am doing it, you both need to respect and understand that"

So what would you do with your kids, layer up or wrapped up?

I struggle to understand why you would not zip the jacket up, especially in the rain. The jacket is there to protect her from getting wet. I know that I would not want to walk around with a wet shirt on. To me, layering is when you will have a varied temperatures throughout the day. If you are wearing a jacket because of the rain, zip it up so that it can do it's job keeping your clothes dry. My husband and I have been happily married almost 24 years and have raised 2 daughters. We tried not to sweat the small stuff. I would be angry at my husband if it was rainy and he didn't put a jacket on her at all and left her cold and wet. But I see nothing wrong in what your husband did.

That is a fair point so thank you :). I will maybe consider doing the same when I take her to school and back, especially during winter when I don't think layering up is a good option.

Why is it that coats are the only subject you seem to want to talk about?
I don't understand why one would not just wear one jacket and zip it up/toss the hood on if its raining/cold?
Does your daughter have a medical condition which zipping up a coat or putting up a hood would cause her to behave in this way that she "can't" have it zipped with hood up while being outside to get to school?

No to the last question and, regarding the first statement, that's not true because I posted in the planning section of the forum about Disney at Christmas ;).

I'm just saying it seems a bit OCD to talk so much about outerwear.
Just put a coat on her to get to school and she can take it off when she gets there.
The moaning and arguing is excessive for a coat!

I get that so will refrain from posting such topics ;). But, I did say in the opening paragraph that I was wanting advice on what is the best option to go for, which has been answered.
