Laundry in the POFQ?

Just a quick question. I've never stayed in WDW long enough to have to do laundry before but since it will probably been inevitable for my next trip I was just wondering what laundry services are available at POFQ and what are the prices? Do they have a service where you can just send it out? Also, if I end up doing it myself will I have to bring my own laundry detergent? I don't relish the idea of bringing a zip loc bag containing an unidentified white powder through customs :lookaroun ... . Thanks in advance for answering my less than magical question.

There is a send out service but it is VERY expensive. They charge by the item, can't remember any of the prices, but I do remember that I nearly fainted when they told me.

They do have "do-it" yourself on site laundry service. It is near the pool. I don't remember the actual charge, but it was around $1.50+. Bring some quaters.

Why don't you go to a local laundrymat and purchase a couple of the single use boxes of detergent that they sell in the machines? Or you could just buy the smallest box/bottle in the supermarket and seal it in a ziplock bag.(Just in case-I hand hand lotion spill once!)

We always pack clothes for 1/2 the numbers of days we stay and then do laundry and rewear the same clothes again (saves room in the suitcase for stuff we buy!!). Our local dollar store sells Tide powder in a small plastic bag (sealed and marked) that is good for about 5 loads. We buy one, put it inside a ziploc bag (for protection) and then just toss whatever we don't use. Since it is sealed in the manufacturers container, I don't think that customs will have any problems with it. We also bring a couple of dryer sheets. Laundry costs about $2.00 a load to wash and $2.00 a load to dry. We save our change anyway so we just bring a couple of rolls of quarters with us (along with a couple of rolls for my son for the game room). We usually combine laundry day with a pool day or a short park day (like Animal Kingdom). We also bought a small "pop-out" laundry container (it folds up to fit very nicely into a suitcase) to put our laundry in in the hotel room. There is a send out service, but as has been already said, it is VERY expensive. There is a sheet in the room with the prices - you won't believe what they charge!

I would suggest that you look for laundry detergent in tablet form. I think I bought Purex brand, and I think there was another brand also.

It was pre-packaged, and didn't spill in the luggage.

VERY convenient.

If you are planning to do laundry, you should definitely bring your own detergent.

I had originally planned to bring a roll of quarters, but I left them at home when I discovered how much heavier they made my carry-on bag. So I just made sure that I hoarded quarters whenever possible, or asked for change if I passed a cart or store that didn't have a line.

First buy the tide tablets, They are small and not a chance of spillage. I have not personally done any laundry but years ago we went with my parrents and my mom did some at POR(same setup as POFQ). She said it took twice as long as normal so she needed twice as many quaters to dry them. On the up side if you are going to make it a pool day the washers and dryers are located right at the pools(At POR anyways, I think POFQ is the same way) so you can throw a load in and get some sun.

Yep, this is the standard hotel laundry type setup, big yellow top loaders and front load dryers.

$1.50 for a wash, $1.00 for powder and $1.00 to dry I think. All machines are the old slot type which take quarters. And there's no softener machine either. :(

Suggest a stop on your way from the airport to grab some essentials such as powder, if you don't which to bring them on the plane. Saying that, we brought a sealed box of detergent from the UK last year and no one batted an eyelid at security.
