Mickey's PhilharMAGIC
According to Animagic, the 3-D show which takes the place of "The Legend of the Lion King", would follow Donald after he "steals Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat, [which] takes on a life of its own. Donald ends up chasing it through famous Disney films: you're flying a lot (think an animated Soarin') and at other times you're maneuvering through other terrain. The animation models are exquisitely faithful to the originals, with the difference that the characters have been completely computer modelled, and then passed on to the animators to act in their scenes. Since the characters have three dimensions as well as the scenery, there will be a level of depth never seen before in an animated 3D film. Plus, the enormous screen (bigger than Soarin's, though not concave), the sound effects and in-theater effects (wind, etc.). The moving floor for the PhilharMagic project was cut some time back. Not entirely a budget move, it was just not really needed for the show."

Feature Length Legacy
Bears has been renamed recently to Moments and is still expected to be released in 2004. This was supposed to be Disney's last traditionally 2D animated film. Set in the Pacific Northwest before the white man arrived in the New World, Moments now reportedly tells the somewhat mystical tale a young Native American. This 15-year-old , Kenoia (voiced by Joaquin Phoenix) is angered when his father -- the tribe's kindly and wise chief -- is accidentally killed by a mother bear trying to protect her cubs. Immediately wanting revenge, Phoenix urges his older brother -- the tribe's new chief -- to form a hunting party to kill the bear quickly. When his brother refuses, the rebellious teen rushes into the wilderness to act on his own. Wanting to teach this hot-headed young man a lesson, the spirits of the forest turn our hero into the very thing he wants to kill: a bear. To survive, he must befriend another bear. This wise old grizzly (not-so-originally named Griz and voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan) then tries to teach the adolescent the ways of the forest. Naturally the angry teen comes around, learning valuable lessons about the cycle of life that come in handy when the bewitched young man learns that his brother finally has formed a hunting party. Now determined to avenge their father's death, the new chief has ordered that all bears be killed. In order to keep himself and his new friend safe, Phoenix must tap all that he remembers from his days as a human as well as what he has learned as a bear.
"My Peoples" is supposed to be Disney's first CGI animated film to look like a 2D animated film. But this backwoods bluegrass musical will feature 2D characters that interact with 3D props and settings. All of these 3D "puppet" characters are made out of junk such as a version of Abraham Lincoln (voiced by Hal Holbrook) that's been crafted out of an old push broom. Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin are rumored to be voices as well as Ricky Skaggs providing all the songs.
"Antonius", by Tom Firestone and Martin Meunier, was recently announced by Disney Feature Animation. It follows the story of a leopard in ancient Egypt who becomes a freedom fighter. "Antonius" will be developed as a traditional animation project. I guess 2D animation isn't dead yet! YEAH! Don't expect this film until 2006 at the earliest.
"The Three Pigs", not to be confused with "The Three Little Pigs", is based on David Weisner's best-selling children's book. The story takes the classic one we all know and alters it. When the wolf approaches the first house, for example, and blows it in, he somehow manages to blow the pig right out of the story frame. The text continues on schedule--'...and ate the pig up'--but the perplexed expression on the wolf's face as he looks in vain for his ham dinner is priceless. One by one, the pigs exit the fairy tale's border and set off on an adventure of their own. Folding a page of their own story into a paper airplane, the pigs fly off to visit other storybooks, rescuing about-to-be-slain dragons and luring the cat and the fiddle out of their nursery rhyme.
I guess we won't see this logo anymore.

The House of Villains opens its Doors
Well, Disney has finally opened the site for "Mickey's House of Villains" on their website. For those of you unfamiliar with the story, I'll quote the website.
"Mickey and his pals have their hands full when the wicked Jafar teams up with Cruella, Hades, Ursula, Captain Hook, Maleficent and the rest of their cruel crew in a wild attempt to turn the House Of Mouse into the House Of Villains. Watch the ultimate face off as these scene-stealing scoundrels grab the stage for the show-stopping musical number, "It's Our House Now!
Can Jafar and company take the house? Or will Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy close the curtain on this band of villains?"
Check out the new website for all kinds of information about the movie and downloads for your computer. You can even listen to a sample of "It's Our House Now!"
