Mulan II is moving along nicely. Apparently, Mulan II will feature two of the females that were cameos during the "Honor to Us All" song in the first movie. No clue on what these women will be doing, but I sure hope there's more cross dressing. Disney hasn't done enough cross dressing in their films. Mushu has also moved up the ladder in the Ancestors' Guardian chain of command. He is now in his own big chair in the middle. Two of the ancestors are doomed to fan him with leaves all day.

All of the original voices will return with the exception of, are you at all surprised, Eddie Murphy. Mark Moseley will be taking over the part of Mushu for the sequel.

The expected release date for Mulan II is an extremely vague 2003.

The Disney Feature animation department is currently referring to Fantasia 2006 as The Music Project. Don't worry, I doubt that's a real title. But it also looks like we now know who the new cameo is in this version of Fantasia. In 1941, it was Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice. In 2000, it was Donald as Noah's Assistant. Well, in 2006, we will be getting Sebastian the crab! It will probably be very reminiscent of the Academy Award winning song, "Under the Sea". Sebastian will be making music with other crabs and sea snails. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the next Fantasia film will be released sometime around, oh, I don't know, 2006.

Not too long ago, Disney had talked about doing a spin off of the Aladdin movies. They were going to be called the Genie Trilogy. Robin Williams had even shown interest in reprising his high octane performance of the Genie. It was to just be the Genie traveling around the world meeting new people, places and experiences. But slowly, that project fizzled out. Now we turn to another movie that could have a spin off. They did Peter Pan, they squeezed out Return to NeverLand, now get ready for Tinker Bell to spread her wings and leave Peter Pan (GASP!!!) and "tell" her story. The movie will feature Tinker Bell as the lead and we will get to meet a bunch of other Fairies. They will all have their own personalities and physical traits. There's Fashion Fairy, the Black Fairy, etc. Think "The Smurfs" with wings. The characters all have that Disney pin-up girls from the 50's kind of look. Although Tink doesn't talk, expect a lot of the other Fairies to talk. Oh, and if you are a little queasy about this whole idea of a project. Don't worry, Disney's already got a sequel to it in the works as well as a TV series. So don't worry, it is getting milked to death before it starts.

Bad Report from the Range

I just read a really bad review of what to expect from Disney's 2003 animated release, Home on the Range. The report goes on to say that the hero reminds them of an overweight Kronk, from The Emperor's New Groove, with brown and orange clothes and a moustache. When he is away from the farm, it turns into a Broadway set from the 30's with Busby Berkely inspired dance numbers and cows dressed as co-stars perform synchronized dance routines. They go on to say that the backgrounds look ugly and the movie's merchandising looks even worse.

This movie has had it's ups and downs since the start. It's life span has been somewhat similar to The Emperor's New Groove, with it's major story overhaul and title change half way thru production. (Aren't major story changes supposed to be made BEFORE animating the film?) In August 2000, when the project was revamped from the ground up, the original Sweating Bullets title (with a G) was rumored to have been modified to Sweatin' Bullets by Disney, in order to give it a tone better adapted to the new premise: early versions being supposedly so completely politically correct and non-offensive the movie turned out very bland. Nevertheless, the first logo picture released seems to prove this rumor wrong. Among other changes, the title character, a bull named Bullets, was supposedly dropped from the movie. Voice session work began in the early summer of 2000, but since Disney decided to retool the project altogether, most voice work will probably have to be done all over again. Rumors started to float around in April 2002 that Disney had changed the title of its 2003 animated feature to Home on the Range. Also more rework will be done by the Disney artists: another character may have many scenes reanimated--all because the main character is supposedly now voiced by comedy actress Roseanne.

Every Disney movie is a legend to someone, but it didn't stop them from making sequels to those.
