Hi guys, I suggested to my DH we leave our baby (well, she'll be 3 when we visit) at AKL's Simba's Clubhouse now and then so we can have a break. His reaction was 'ohhhh don't know about that, leaving her with strangers, how do we know they're all vetted and she'll be safe?'
Can anyone help answer that? There are so many checks on people who work with children here. One is called Disclosure Scotland - it's proof from the authorities you've got nothing dodgy on record. You can't work with kids without one. Anyone know the US version? Any insights?

Disney is the only place that I have left my kids with strangers. I trust them and my kids always had a great time and did not want to leave. Disney would not want to keep people who are bad with kids, can you imagine the horrible bad press if the kids clubs were terrible. I have not heard of anyone saying anything bad about them.

While I have not used any of these facilities, I have heard great things from other WDW Magic members who have. As for the people employed, I would imagine that full background checks are done before anyone is hired and placed in such a role.

We've travelled throughout Florida and the Caribbean with our daughter since she was an infant, and DW's clubhouses and kids club on DCL are the only places I felt completely comfortable leaving her. There are multiple cast members there, and usually several children. We've used Simba's Clubhouse as well as a few others on property and never had an issue. My understanding is that cast members at the parks and resorts have a criminal background check performed. Perhaps a current employee can verify this.

it's disney, of course they vet the childcare employees.
i don't know of any accusations of inappropriate behavior at one of the child car centers, let alone proven.
more importantly, there are always multiple adults working with the group, so unless 4 employees are all in collusion, nothing untoward is going to happen
pretty slim odds that not only are there 4 rotten employees, but that they all ended up the same place at the same time and made a plan together.
oh, and that they made sure that no parent (who are all arriving and dropping off and picking up kids at different times) would be arriving during their time of misbehavior.
just too many things that would prevent it, even if someone wanted to.
i have used this many times, always felt safe.
if he really won't do the clubhouse, kid's night out is an in room babysitting service that we have used and they are certified nannies with background checks by the providing company

I think you shouldn't have to worry but you can contact them if you are. If your still worried you can always bring her with you the whole time and take afternoon breaks at resort or pool.
