Late Night Transportation from Hotel Dining

I apologize in advance if this is answered on another thread, if it is point me in the right direction.

I am currently planning our February trip, the first without our son. We'll be celebrating a birthday and an anniversary and we are trying to do a few things we wouldn't otherwise do if our son was along.

So, my question is, if we would go to AK for the day and make a reservation at an AKL restaurant for the evening and also take in some of the extra activities AKL has to offer, how do we get back to POFQ late at night? Since AK would be closing early and during that time of the year most of the parks will be closed by at the latest mid week 9pm, how do you get around? Travel to DTD and back to POFQ?

Any help would be appreciated.

That's pretty much how I've always done it. There was one time after a late night at WL Whispering Canyon that the driver bringing us to DTD offered to drop us off at PORS since we were the only ones on the bus at the time. Good thing that's where we were staying!

If you have a car with you, you should drive. We have done this at the Contemporary for resides at chef Mickey. You can avoid the cattle lines and waits for buses. Drive right back to your hotel.

Yes. If you don't want to take a taxi, your best bet is the bus to DTD. Then, take the boat back from there to POFQ. Lovely ride, especially at night.

I agree, to a point. Depending on when you get to DTD, boat service could be closed for the evening. In that case, you would need another bus to POFQ. But it's not very far from DTD. All buses serve the Marketplace and it's a bus hub.

Or you can have a bus rerouted. ;). A few years ago, DW & I along with another couple went to ESPN Club for a few cold ones and some Monday Night football. It was getting later in the second half of the game and the girls wanted to head back to the rooms at POFQ but us guys wanted to stay for the rest of the game. So they left about 20 minutes before us,took a bus from the BW to DTD and then another to POFQ. When we left, we were the only two getting on the bus to DTD. We asked the driver where the location of the bus stop at DTD for POFQ was. He then radioed in to dispatch (or what ever Disney calls transportation control) and told us he would take us directly to POFQ. Turns out it was his last route of the evening and since we were the only two on the bus, it didn't matter where he ended the night since he would be taking the bus back to the garage anyway. Turns out we got back to the rooms only 5 minutes after the girls did.

That happened for me one morning when I wanted to get to the Poly from POFQ for breakfast reservations at Kona Cafe. I boarded an MK bus at 6:45 a.m., thinking I would have to go to MK first then get monorail or boat to the Poly, and found I was the only one on board,. The bus driver offered to drive me directly to the Poly. He radioed dispatch and did just that. Wow! Great service.

That happened to us once too when we had a breakfast reservation at Boatwright's. We planned to take the bus from Pop Century to Epcot, then Epcot to POR, but since we were the only family on the bus, the driver took us right to POR.

I once got stuck waiting on a ride and did not leave Epcot till almost two hours after in closed. Went to the bus stop and the had a bus come get us and take us to our resort. Me and my daughter where the only ones on the bus. Disney seems to always find a way to get you where you need to go.
