I am looking to spend one night at a Value Resort before my extended stay at an offsite timeshare. I can not check in till 4pm at my timeshare the following day - is it possible to ask for late check out? if so, how much? who do i speak to?

Also, on check out day will my KTTW card still work in the parks for extra magic hours (either for that night or morning). Even though that night we will be staying at an offsite resort.

Could you not load everything in your vehicle before official check out and then hang out at the pool for the day or take the bus to a park for the day and just come back and get your vehicle when you are ready to head to the timeshare. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I know on our last day we usually load everything in the van and go check out and then grab a bus to one of the water parks for a bit. When we have had enough and are ready for the 22 hour drive home, we take the bus back to Pop, jump in the van and head for home.

Thats actually a very good point. If I do late check out, then im go be rushing trying to get back to get my things out the room. I plan on having the kids leave everything in the car except for clothes the next day and stuff to clean up with.

So the next morning - we could do morning EMHs at a theme park or lounge around the pool. That will be nice. Then I can go to the timeshare around 3 and check in, get settled for a few hours. If my KTTC still works for evening EMHs, then we can go another park.

You are a resort guest the entire day of check in AND the entire day of check out. You can use the resort amenities and your KTTK card for EMH morning and night on both days.

As for late check out, you would have to check with the front desk. It is usually based on operational needs. Personally, I have been able to stay until 1 pm. But, last stay at AKL I called at 10:30 to ask and they had already checked us out.

If you have a vehicle, you can put your stuff in it.

If you don't, Bell Services can store your stuff until you are ready to leave.

Late checkout is only really necessary if you need to have the room in the afternoon for a nap or to change clothes.

Thank you, wasnt sure on that issue. But it makes sense considering they state on the ticket purchase page, add an extra day for check out. It will be nice to be able to part of Disney for 1 full day before the timeshare.

Plus, Dining Plan credits don't expire until midnight of your checkout day. Your room charge account is still active all day on checkout day, too. (If you charge anything to your room charge after they finalize your bill, they'll charge the new charges to your credit card on-file the following night).

You can also use the pools at your resort on checkout day. Really the only thing you DON'T have access to after checkout is your room. (And if you use the pool before you leave, there are changing rooms near the pools)

At almost every halfway decent hotel/resort in the USA, you retain all of the rights and privileges as a resort guest on the entire day of your check-out day. All the rights and privileges, of course, except for actually having a room. Disney operates this way, too. And yes, this is official, you're not getting away with anything. If you check-out of your resort on the morning of August 1st, you are still 100% entitled to use the evening Extra Magic Hours on the night of August 1st. This is exact Disney policy, not my guess about what might probably be.

Here is THE deal with late check-outs. These are THE rules. But as with anything else at WDW, there are times when CMs can spread a little unexpected "magic."

Late check-out needs to be requested from the HOUSEKEEPING department. The front desk has NOTHING to do with whether or not yet can get a late check-out. If you ask the front desk, all they can do is call Housekeeping for you. The front desk can't simply grant it to you, they MUST call Housekeeping.

Generally speaking, the earliest you can get an answer is the night before, and in many cases you'll be asked to ask again on the morning of check-out day, as they'll have better information about whether or not they can accommodate you.

[NOTE: DVC resorts DO NOT grant late check-outs. This is due to at least two factors: 1) they tend to have a higher occupancy rate than non-DVC resorts; 2) guests staying on DVC points do not get daily Housekeeping services, and therefore the clean-up and change-over usually takes longer than at a regular resort where the room was cleaned every day.]

IF you are granted late check-out, here's the fee schedule:

Until 1 p.m. -- no charge

1 p.m. - 3 p.m. -- 50% of nightly RACK rate (that is, the full rate, not any discounted rate you may have had for your stay)

after 3 p.m. -- 100% of nightly RACK rate

This is information received from current cast members, not from personal experience or personal opinion. As I said, there can be exceptions to almost anything at WDW, but the rules are above.
