Late ADR at AK

Coming Mid-Sept. Booked ADR at AK's Tusker House at 4:55pm and then realized AK closes at 5 that day. Wondering if the quality of the food will suffer since they close at 5. Buffets can often be that way outside of WDW.

I had a late reservation at Yak & Yeti once and the food was still fantastic (not a buffet though). It was VERY strange getting out of the restaurant and essentially being alone in the park on the walk out.

In the past I have not been able to book dinner @ Tusker House on evenings that the park closes @ 5:00. They have only had bookings for lunch. I did however look on the reservations site and it appears they take reservations as late as 5:15 PM and the the restaurant is open until 5:30. I would expect that you will be ok know that there are still quite a few people to be seated after you @ 4:55 pm. I however cannot speak from experience for the dinner, but have had breakfast ressies there right at the end of breakfast service. They always had fresh food prepared and nothing went empty on the buffet and we were part of maybe 25 - 30 people left in the restaurant during the breakfast service. They did seem like they were ready to change over for lunch and wanted us out the door, but never pushy.

I would cancel that, and make a reservation next door at Boma. Much better food in my opinion, and you won't feel like you are being rushed out. You can also make a bit more use of that last hour before AK closes.

Yeah, but great picture opportunities after dinner. Empty park and still daylight.

Last year we had a late ADR in AK at Yak & Yeti. This turned out to be one of the very best meals ever at WDW in all my years of going there. Now don't get me wrong, it was just the usual menu, but they seated us by the window that looks out over the bridge which was really neat. The restaraunt was nearly empty, and the staff were a pure joy to talk to and we had a ball with them. This was our first time to Yak & Yeti and we were blown away by what a great experience we had there. When we left the restaraunt we basically closed the park. We had such a good time, that we purposely made our Yak & Yeti ADR's for the same time this year.

Hmmm we have Boma reservations for Breakfast on another day. That's why we chose Tusker House for dinner on our AK day. Did I make the right choice?

We had a later reservation at Tusker House last year, and I thought it was great. I loved the food there and found the quality to be excellent. I think the food choices are somewhat similar to Boma, but I actually give Tusker House a slight edge. I thought their beef and prok roast were better than what I had at Boma, and I loved the seafood stew and dessert selection.

The park was pretty empty when we left, but I loved it! It was so nice to walk slowly through the park and look at everything when no one's there. We have already book again this year, but we are doing the Safarai lunch since my oldest DD is crazy about Donald Duck.
