Hi folks,

Well, today is the day. I leave for WDW in less than 2 hours! :sohappy: I've had ressies at the WL since August but had been unable to add Dec. 22nd as my first night at the annual passholderes rate for MONTHS. Well, after many calls I finally got lucky yesterday and I was able to add a night, which is today! :sohappy:

As if that wasn't lucky enough, I have been trying to get the WL sleigh ride but it has been sold out since October. At least I felt comforted knowing that I did have the carriage ride from Fort Wilderness. Well, I decided to give it one more shot and can you believe it? They had a sleigh ride at 6:00 PM tonight available!!! :sohappy:

So, tonight after we check-in and settle into the WL, I will take my family downstairs, refill my mug with hot chocolate and take them on a surprise sleigh ride. I know my 3 year old son is going to lose it when he sees the horse, he loves horses. On top of all that, I was able to get some last minute dinner reservations at Sci-Fi tonight at MGM!!!:sohappy:

The point is, if you have been trying to get ressies for months and have been unable to, don't give up. A lot of people cancel at the last minute (especially with these darn snow storms) so give Disney a call again and you may just get lucky.

:xmas: Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to EVERYONE at WDWMagic!:xmas:

There's probably a few people in Colorado who are not quite as happy about this.... :lookaroun

What great news! I am hopeful too - looks like we might be going down a little early too (the 24th instead of the 26th) and so far I'm not able to get anything for the 25th except a couple places at DTD. I'll cross my fingers for the Magic to kick in though!

Merry Christmas Debbie Downer!:xmas:

Haha, too funny! Well, we are back! We had a great time, even had great weather. This morning (Xmas morning) we went swimming before we checked out and I couldn't help but feel sorry for all the people stuck up north. I mean, here I was, in the pool on Xmas day!

Fortunately, the weather cooperated until it was time to leave (around 1 PM) and then it started to pour down very heavy! It's strange, it isn't supposed to rain in December much at all but last time we spent Xmas in WDW was on 04 and it poured that year too!?!

By the way, SMK, the sleigh ride was great. We checked in 15 minutes before it was time (close call) but made it. Luke, the horse, was great and it was very Christmassy. Once again, we got lucky because it started raining right after our sleigh ride was over.

My only complaint was about the WL believe it or not. It was gorgeous and it my favorite resort but we were checked into a dirty room that we were told was clean and when we told them, they said they would change everything, no problem. I was smart enough to make a little mark on the sheets to make sure they really changed them and guess what, they changed the towels and made the bed but left the sheets the other people were using on the bed! Needless to say, I was appalled and had words with housekeeping. A $50 credit later, I am still miffed that my deluxe hotel would do that.

Otherwise than THAT, great stay. We had a great Xmas Eve dinner at Le Cellier and a great holiday overall. Glad to be home though!

Glad to hear the Sleigh ride was great! Was it FW or WL? I have never heard of one at WL but have seen carrige rides at FW. Yikes about the sheets!! I would and do expect more from any hotel. I guess they are short staffed and very busy around the Holidays BUT doing ones job (mousekeeping) should be expected. I am sorry to say I would have had them come back and clean the room from top to bottom while I watched and expected a credit too. Glad to hear it didn't ruin your day.

SMK, it was the sleigh ride from the WL. They only have them there from November-December. The ones from FW are carriage rides or wagon rides. The sleigh ride is basically a red sleigh on wheels decorated with garlands and lights. It was very Christmassy and they even give you blankets to use, not that we needed them since it was a very warm Christmas!

As for the sheets, that is exactly what I did. They came back and cleaned the room from top to bottom and changed everything but the dust ruffle (which was quite dirty actually). I made it quite clear that I would watch while they did it. What upset me the most is that if I had not made a mark on the sheets, I would have never known! Housekeeping made it seem like an oversight and an honest mistake but that is not true. See, when I checked into the room and noticed it was dirty, I called downstairs and let them know. About 10 minutes later someone showed up at my door saying "Here are your towels". I then made it quite clear, "No, I don't just need towels, I need everything changed. They checked me into a dirty room and these are someone else's sheets." The lady said she was not our housekeeper but she had a radio with her and she said "I'll make sure that your housekeeper knows you need the whole room changed, sheets and all." I figured that was the end of that. However, something told me to make a mark on the sheets "just in case." Well, when we returned later that evening the room looked like it had been done, beds made, towels changed, so I never expected the sheets with the marks to still be there, but.....

I was SO upset but I tried to keep my cool, being Christmas and all. Personally, I was disappointed by housekeeping's response of "Well, she did her job but we'll research it to see what happened." Huh? She never said she was sorry or anything. I had to ask for the credit because it took so much time out of my day to complain, retell the story to like 3 different people, and wait for the room to be cleaned in front of me. I'm sure you can all agree, our vacation time is very valuable to us. But, being Christmas I told myself I wouldn't let it bother me anymore because if I let it affect my mood, it would affect my kid's mood too so after the room was cleaned and the credit applied, I just let it go. However, I did learn one thing from this experience. Consider bringing your own linens and/or towels when you go on vacation cause you never know!

Glad to hear that your trip went so well!

However, the dirty sheet thing made my stomach turn!! Unfortunately, it does happen. You did the right thing calling the front desk and requesting that your room be cleaned again. Hopefully they can address the problem and keep that from happening in the future.

Just to be sure, we've made it a habit to totally strip the beds down right before we check out to make sure that mousekeeping puts new sheets on for the next family. :animwink:

That is too funny, that is exactly what I did! I stripped everything down to the mattress pad and put it in a corner of the room, same with the towels. It's funny, I used to make the beds before I checked out, something DH has always teased me about but I thought I was just being neat. The people that checked out before us had done the same thing, made the beds, but it was still obvious the room hadn't been changed, mostly due to wet towels on the floor. After this experience, I'll never make the beds in a hotel again!!!

Oh That is just gross about not changing the sheets :hurl: !! I have a germaphobic sister who always takes her own linens and towels when she goes out of town. The first thing she does when she gets in her room is strip all the bedding and remake the beds. She will also spray the room down with lysol. I've always made fun of her for packing an extra suitcase full of bed linens and towels, but its starting to sound like a good idea.

We have not had this experience at WDW, but did have a similar one with a condo rental at the beach on the gulf coast. I would have gone off like fireworks on the 4th of July, especially at WDW because I expect more out of them than I do other hotels. Hopefully despite the issue, you and yours had a wonderful Christmas!:xmas:

I took extra sheets to Europe and I have taken extra sheets to hotels rooms in the past. I was in Vegas in September and had one small problem at the Venetian Hotel, called housekeeping and the supervisor came to our room with the housekeeper that cleaned the room and re-cleaned the whole room. I will always call but I expect that I won't get the "well, the job was done" response. I do have an expectation that my room, that I pay to rent, will be clean, no excuses. It makes me scared to trust that the room is clean when I check in. By the way, I NEVER sit on the bed spread in ANY hotel, I always pull it off. I also like a sheet on both sides of my blanket, gives me the illusion that it is cleaner anyway! I always take a baggie for the remote too, those things are never cleaned. I put the remote in the baggie and then use it. Yes, I get crazy lady jokes from my family all the time. I am a clean freak and I know it!

Good idea about pulling everything off a bed when checking out! I can't believe I have never thought of that before! I will do that from now on.

I am glad that you could put it behind you and have a good trip!

Oooh, I like that baggie idea SMK! Don't worry, I hear all the same jokes too. I am a real clean and neat freak. My housekeeper laughs at me because everything in my closet is organized by color and style. Like all red shirts together and then seperated by long and short sleeve. Heck, even my underwear is seperated in my drawer by type, lol! Like, everyday, everyday fancy, and fancy, lol! I know, I am totally obsessive and compulsive but I like me that way. If you have ever watched that show Friends, I am JUST like Monica. In fact, my name is Monica! DH thinks it is crazy how I have to unpack everything when I go to a hotel. He says, "Why not leave it in the luggage and we'll get it from there?" I say, "Well, why not put it away so everything is nice and neat and wrinkle free? Besides, isn't it homier that way?" To which he replies ... LOL! So, as if I wasn't paranoid enough now I have to add taking linens and towels with me on any vacation to the list.

Well, at least I didn't let it ruin my vacation like you said. It just sucks that it happened at my favorite hotel in WDW.
