Last Minute AP, Worth it?

Hi!:D
I'm heading to the world in less than 30 days as well as in October.
It never crossed my mind to save money by becoming an annual passholder until... just now... like right now!
:banghead::banghead::banghead::hilarious:
I noticed Mousesavers posted the current AP room discount for that time was 37% off select moderate resorts. Which would mean, that getting an AP & booking the AP room discount would actually save me $96 off my May Trip & a couple hundred off my October trip.
But I'm wondering, could I get an AP and re-book my current room under the AP discount? If not, what are the chances any rooms are even left for the AP discount?

I am trying really hard to get into the passholder discounts for hotel rooms with the spring discount and it won't let me in.....Only way you can find out if you would save over whatever rate you are currently booked under is call Disney because right now the website won't let me even book under spring passholder discounts.

Keep in mind that the passholder discounts are not always for available for all resorts and all categories of rooms. But yes the savings for room only is often better than the discount rates for the general public

I also suggest that you give them a call and check on the availability of AP discount rooms for your dates. One thing to keep in mind - there is a penalty for reservation changes under the 45-day mark (I think it's something like $50-$60), but it sounds like it would still be worth it in overall savings. Good luck if you decide to do it!

I finally got the website to work and I booked a room only with the discount for a standard view at CSR for the 5/18-5/27. My rate is 135.10/per night versus 196 for a non discounted room for the same dates. My confirmation says that to cancel with a full refund I must do it 5 days in advance or penalties apply.
And it says my rate only applies as long as I don't make room category changes.
I know I can add the dining plan as long as I do it 3 days in advance which would be by the 15th I think.

You don't have to have the AP to request the room-only AP discount. When you arrive, you can purchase your AP and show it when you check in or tell them you'll show it later if you haven't got it yet.

If your two trips are for more than three days each, it's likely worth it to get the AP. Discounts are an added bonus.

Right now I have a room only reservation so I should be okay to not get a penalty fee.
Do I call the regular reservation line?

I have an AP for a few years now. For the room discounts alone it is worth it. However, do not get an AP unless you plan on taking multiple trips over a 12 month period. For me, 3 five day trips eat up the cost of the pass and discounts. Though, I will not be renewing for this upcoming year. I am banning myself through mid 2015 from going back to disneyworld. With an AP- you will be obliged to book a trip as often as you can - money or not, lol

Do I can the regular reservation line?

Do you mean the "regular reservation line" at your resort check-in? If so, yes, that is for all guests with any type of reservation - though there is a separate location/line for those who have done online check in.
[With online check-in, they have the paperwork already done for you to expedite the process. If you want/need to make any changes (for example, if you wanted to check on availability for a different room location, building, etc), you just go to the regular check in line and they can help you with that.]

Two three-day hoppers @ $344 covers the cost of an AP [$634], before factoring in room and shopping discounts.
