Large Tour Groups in July a regularity?

Hey everyone, I just returned from WDW and wanted to know if large tour groups were a regular thing this time of year....while we were there there were a lot of Brazillian tour groups ou and about about 6 or 7 different ones that we saw with about 60 kids in each not counting adults. Obviously the line times and the fastpasses were thrown out of whack when the groups hit certain attractions and I don't remember those groups the last three times I visited in June...

I was just wondering if any regulars to the parks knows whether this is a regular thing so in planning my trip next year I can avoid this time or if this was just a fluke thing....

They are there every July, just like clockwork!

Yep unkadug has it correct. Every freaking July the tour groups arrive. We go down every July for my DD's b-day for 12 days. We just got back from our annual trek as a matter of fact and we had our normal run ins with the tour groups. I did however have some fun with the tour groups this year. The Brazilian ones are the ones that, in my opinion are the rudest of the bunch and they like to chant and scream at different locations around the 4 parks. So this year I snuck in a couple of little air horns. And when I got off of Splash Mountain and they were there doing their chanting so I came up behind them and let the air horn rip scared the ________ out of the entire group.
:ROFLOL:
Then one of them started to yell at me in Portuguese and I blasted the horn again. I have never laughed so hard in my life.

That is flat out awesome! The groups hit all the Orlando parks so it's not just those visiting the Mouse that are affected by them. The groups are pretty much here from mid-July until their school starts back (I have no clue when that is) but the few weeks they're here I hate it. They are rude and annoying. If they were nice and pleasant, I'd be happy, but that's not the case 99% of the time.

They were there last week in Epcot when my wife and I went up for 2 days on a whim..... There was a smaller group of about 15 walking hand in hand across... taking up the whole walkway so people had to go around them.... Well it was 6 by this time and I was abuout 1/2 way through drinking around the world......

Maybe it was the adolescent in me by this looked like a big Red Rover chain!!!!!

So I did what every fun loving big kid would do

Red Rover Red Rover I hauled butt right over and broke that chain right in half. Not the most adult thing to do, but I had fun..... Oh and the flag bearer cam up to me and asked me if everything was ok.... My wife told him what happened and the next time i saw em the chain was broken!!!!!!

Sometimes you have to improvise with these groups

That was a great move. In my family we call that "Bowl a Brazilian". You're right though, not the most adult thing to do but hey sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do. :sohappy:

Oh the Brazilians... I'm so glad July is nearly over - I don't think I could stand another week of it. Their numbers have dropped significantly over the past few days, and I think you can hear a collective sigh coming from the entire WDW property. :)

Ugh...
We just finished up our trip. I didn't notice any of the groups on Monday, but Tuesday at Universal should have been "Brazil Day." We saw no less than 8 of the 50+ person tour groups. It made getting on rides impossible.

We got in line for Mummy (sign said 30 min) and waited an hour. Some groups were using the single rider line completely hosing real single riders. It was definitely a mess.

We usually go in Sept/Oct or February. I've already decided, our next trip is July 2010 for Food and Wine and MNSSHP if they're sitll happening. If not, I'm going the first/second week of December for Christmas decorations. Never again in July...

Though, the lines weren't as bad as they could be, most things were 40-45 minutes at Disney. Some popular attractions were more (Splash Mountain was 80-110, Space Mountain was 60, Soarin' was 110, Test Track was 60), but not terrible for what they could be this time of year.

That's interesting that this happens every year.....I went for 12 days and happened to bump into at least three or four groups every day no matter what park we hopped to. Fantasmic was the worst though it seemed all the groups were there and they were singing and chanting all the way to show time....good to know that I should avoid that month....thanks everyone.

Yeah I would like to go on the record about the Brazilians. I got stuck on the ferry boat with the nasty hoard. A tommy gun would have been so great right about then. I am not above the death penalty for those rude F---ers.

Anyone that has not had to be in close proximity with them shut up.
Don't get offended at my opinion. You weren't there. You have no clue.

I know about them tour groups. Here is a picture from last July. Luckily we got in line right before the Brazillians swarmed the Jungle Cruise. I felt horrible for this poor jungle skipper.

Especially if you use the one with the integrated silencer. That way you will not disturb the other guests with the sound of 9mm rounds all they will hear is shell casings hitting the floor.:lookaroun

The tour groups from Brazil are unfortunately an annual July occurence. I have been there with these groups and I have to agree that they are VERY VERY rude! They think nothing of cutting in line, standing in front of you during a parade(they walk right up when the parade is about to begin and then just stand there, then when you say something they pull the no english thing!), and a multitude of other rude behavior. I have also noticed that daily bathing and/or the use of deodrant doesn't seem to be a priority with this group and in July in Florida it makes for a less than magical experience:hurl:

It's just sad when that kind of thing happens I mean you make the effort to get there to watch any parade and BOOM, someone stands right in front of you and I hate to pick on one group of people but it does seem to be in large the Brazilian groups that are the offenders of that type of behavior. Even the CM's are at a loss. I asked a CM just last week what can be done about these groups and the CM said, "Nothing, they can do pretty much what they want." :(

These tour groups can be awful - especially when one member - usually the tour guide - stands in line, then, when he is just about at the entrance, another 40 - 50 people basically "cut" in line! We've spoken to CMs about this problem and they say their hands are tied - they understand but there's nothing they can really do!
