Rumor rumor rumor..... :dazzle:

I'd say the most noticeable parts of the wand will be down by early august if they work at it 5 nights a week. Then it looks like the stars come down.

Then the immediate area gets cleaned up.

Then EPCOT Center has a *looks to be* small, but still company recognized 25th anniversary in october.

Then SSE reopens in november.

HOWEVER, remember the various press releases said that the SSE surrounding area would not be completed until early 2008. Most likely Jan-Feb 08?

Now that leave a legacy is closed, and its two main areas: mirror column, and merfcove are now restored to their 1982 look....I have a feeling that Leave a Legacy will either be removed and placed somewhere else since the contracts state they will be showcased until 2020 or so, but not neceserilly in the same place, or the entire leave a legacy monuments will be completely redone, along with Epcot's entrance to make it more inviting, along the lines, but not exactly what it looked like in 1982.

Thoughts, opinions,?

I think the Leave a Legacy tiles will stay in the entrance way but I don't think they'll stay like they are now. There's just far too many empty stones. If they can redo them into a nice monument somehow, then I'll have no problem with them being there. I just find it really hard to believe that the Disney company would leave those half empty stones there for another 13 years.

From where I stand (read: personally connected to no insiders whatsoever) I say that definitely sounds plausible. And I believe (read: based on no new or special insider information whatsoever) that LaL will be removed completely from the entrance plaza. They stopped sales and removed--very quickly--the sales booth and kiosk. I have to believe that if the LaL tiles were remaining at the entrance, Disney would not have spent the money to remove the kiosk, which was purely informational...they would have left it there to explain to guests the idea behind those mammoth stones, perhaps modifying the text to remove anything about still being able to purchase the tiles. And remember, we have heard reports of plans to re-do the "ticket booth area"...and weren't there permits for new signage? Put all this together and it's obvious that someone has their eye on the entrance plaza in the near future.

Clearly, between Siemens and Jim MacPhee, there's a little more awareness at Epcot these days of the beauty of simplicity and cleanliness. In my opinion, all the signs point to total removal of the stones and tiles from the entrance plaza. Take that for what it's worth, of course, but it would seem to make sense to me.

The sad thing is, I really am an artist, what's even sadder is, I'm pressed for time right now, and instead of going crazy in photoshop, I'm gonna do a quick paintshop of my idea for the epcot entrance.

Here is my idea for the new EPCOT entrance, ifffffff leave a legacy were to stay.

I have once again restored the palm tree planters...to well...palm trees! The SSE legs will once again be baby blue and not brown and black.

Who knows what will become of the entrance fountain, but I put in a flower bed around the mirror column so that people won't put their fingers all over it.

The purple squares are the ceiling tiles of MerfCove East and MerfCove West.

I added a planter infront of the fountain. The red square would be a dedication plaque for Future World, if one were ever to exist.

I've completely redone, and widened the main/central planter.

I've also added a planter at the front, with a red square for where I propose EPCOT Center's dedication plaque be moved to.

I have taken out the rounded edges of the original outermost planters, and have turned them into rectangles. Then I did the same for a brand new middle row of planters.

I would keep leave a legacy, and now resign the monuments...east and west...in the configuration of a rectangle...but as a triangle..with two slightly tilting sides of monument tiles. About 5 feet tall at the most. I'll post that paintshop idea soon.

Thanks!

Here is my idea of the new leave a legacy monuments.

There would only be two of them

Each as the inner most ring closest to the main/central planter.

They would both be on the footprint of a rectangle.

The shortest sides would be in the shape of a triangle. With the longest sides, leaning against one another to form the triangle shape.

The tiles would be sorted out and placed on the monuments to fill up both sides of both monuments.

If there was empty space, than the monuments would be shortened in length and replaced with planters.

I think they should just restore some planters to Epcot's entrance and maybe line them with short monuments with the LaL tiles. They could do that easily considering there aren't nearly as many of them as the graveyard has room for. I do like the idea outlined above as well. Just get rid of that hideous graveyard and restore Spaceship Earth's prominence and wonder.

How about putting them in the outer rows (furthest from the center walkway). or keep them under a few feet tall to prevent the monuments from getting into peoples line of sight?

Exactly! They are commited to displaying the tiles somewhere but the tombstones are another story. I personally do not understand why the tiles have to be displayed in the entry plaza as long as they go somewhere respectful and properly landscaped in EPCOT.

I like that idea. That was one that I was thinking of. I have never shared it with anyone so I can't say that you took the idea from somewhere else.

While it is not the same as the original entrance, it is much better than it's current state.:)

That could work for me. It would take the viewpoint off of the LaL stones and onto SSE again. I don't have to have the original entrance to EPCOT Center although it was beautiful, I just need to have something that doesn't look like a funeral just happened there.

The phrase "I have a feeling" is not a rumor, it is a speculation. Just want to clarify that this "rumor" is something that you came up with on your own and you didn't hear it from anyone else. :animwink:
