My wife and I are actually Gonna have a date night On our next trip to Wdw!!

My DD18 is taking my ds7 for a few Hours so We can Go to Epcot for Dinner and Illuminations!!

We have a 5o'clock adr for La Hacienda and Hope to take our time and Enjoy a Nice meal and some drinks.

Wish we could do it later so we could get a table overlooking Illuminations but my poor wife suffers from Hypoglycemia and Has to be really careful about going to long without food.

Any one have a meal there and care to share??

The cuisine does differ quite a bit from San Angel Inn. My understanding is the San Angel Inn's influences come from the northern regions of Mexico, whereas La Hacienda de San Angel draws from the south. I prefer the San Angel Inn; the meals I've had there are closer to the style of Mexican food I grew up with in California. We found our dinners at La Hacienda to be a bit bland. That said, the restaurant is lovely and I wouldn't put too much stock in my experience. If nothing else, the service is wonderful, as are the drinks.

Btw, Is the menu much different from the Sam Angel Inn??
La Hacienda is an absolute must for us now!!! We like San Angel too, but in our opinion, La Hacienda is in a different league. Yes, they have different menus. we love the shared dinners. so much food!! the appetizers are great too. Enjoy your night out

Get the tequila flight at La Cava! Not really a tequila person, so I tried it because it was a little bit of each. It was good.

Every time I go to San Angel I get the pollo a la rajas. Love it. Wish I was there now...

I LOVE La Hacienda! The taco trio appetizer is delicious, and the queso fundito... well, San Angel had it over 10 years ago, but took it off the menu at some point. I had searched high and low for it since, and then discovered it was at La Hacienda when it opened a few years ago. The gates of heaven opened and the angels sang! It is incredible.
To be completely honest, I haven't had an entree at La Hacienda, but what I've read (and seen) it looks yummy. La Hacienda is really a fantastic place to watch Illuminations- could you maybe snack at some of the food booths (especially if you're there during Flower & Garden Festival), stop in La Cava for a tequila flight and some chips and salsa, then have a later dinner at La Hacienda so you can watch Illuminations?
Whatever you do, ENJOY your date night! My BF and I don't have kids yet, so we love our time in the World doing 'grown-up' things!

Me encanta La Hacieda! Es una buena oportunidad para practicar mi español!

Okay, Spanish aside, I really like La Hacienda. The Arrachera, which is streak strips, is really good. Just keep in mind: it's authentic Mexican cuisine. This is no Taco Bell.

The Sopa de Frijol (bean soup) is also very good. As are the empanadas de manzanas (apple empanadas).

IMHO, La Hacienda is much better! I like sitting on the water and being outside in the World Showcase atmosphere! It's beautiful and Romantic indoors at San Angel, but I'm sorry their service and food have been sub-par from my few experiences. Never again. La Hacienda on the other hand is a must go!
I hope you have a great time, I was in the World last year the time you are going this year! :)

Been twice.

Very impressed the first time. Had some kind of mole (don't recall what type of meat it was). It was fantastic.

Went back. The mole was off the menu. Ended up with shrimp tacos. They were good, but I could have had the same thing at the F&W booth outside.

If you want Illuminations viewing: Eat somewhere else for dinner and skip dessert. Get 8:30 reservations there and just have dessert.

We loved La Hacienda. It's not your typical Americanized Mexican food, but it is very good. We got a late table by the window and had a great view of Illuminations.
