La Cava question?

My husband and I both love a good Margarita, and we have never been to La Cava. We will be going with our kids ages 9 and 6. Can we just go in there and get a Margarita to go, or just walk around the shops inside and drop off the glass when we are done, or do you have to drink it in there? I am only wondering since what little info I have found about this place is that it is small and I am sure in August when we go it will be mobbed. I know they have appetizers which could be enough to entertain them, but I don't want to drag my kids in a place where we need to stand at a corner of a bar to enjoy a drink while they stand there bored to death asking when we are are going to leave. If it were just the 2 of us I would not care, but???

Two of my favorites, cucumber and jalapeño margarita.

I am interested in the cucumber, and avocado as "veggie" versions as well as the passion fruit or blood orange if I am in the fruity mood. I might like the jalapeno since I love that "green" flavor as well as a bit if kick, and I know my hubby will like it for sure and hope he tries it so I can give it a taste too. We will be spending 2 days at Epcot so hopefully we can visit twice. :D

I've had all but two of La Cava's margaritas. The two I've yet to try are the Coffee Mezcal and the Midnight Blue. (I may very well never try the former unless it's a taste of someone else's.) Of all the others, I've enjoyed them all except for the Passion Fruit. The flavor was just bizarre to me. I think if you're in the mood for "fruity", the Blood Orange or Don Julio Pomegranate are better choices. I didn't much like the texture of the avocado because I prefer margaritas on the rocks to blended, but at least the flavor was decent.

The first maragarita I tried at La Cava was the Midnight Blue It was actually not bad at all, a little sweet but I asked if they could add a little more lime.

With kids make sure they do the Agent P game. That will keep them busy as you order your margaritas from La Cava (you can order from the bar, much too small of a place for kids to sit) and then watch them play the Agent P game. There is also a Kidcot station to help keep the kids entertained. After that ride the Grand Fiesta Tour, then order another margarita before heading out for another Agent P mission - kids are having fun and adults are happy.

I had an avocado margarita once and I don't know if it was because it was so hot and humid (so maybe I was a bit dehydrated), but it knocked me out. I had the margarita and I told my husband I was going to lie down for a bit in our room at BCV. It was about 1 or 2 in the afternoon when I returned, I woke up and it was dark outside. I am not a lightweight by any means, so this was a shock to me.

No problem..I had one at the bar, then ordered one to go,and just walked ( floated ) around Epcot.;)
What they said. I always find the place a little less crowded during dinner time. maybe that's just me! LOL

Don't they have a Kennel someplace where you can drop off the kids?

The kennels require proof of rabies shots, however they do have a SandCastle Club at BC where you can drop the kids off for a couple hours and enjoy World Showcase without the kids. It's just a short walk through the International Gateway to BC. I believe that they require reservations so this must be planned and not a "the kids are having a melt down so let's get rid of them" thing.

Do you have to be staying there to take advantage of this?

Hot Lava,

No anyone can use the kid clubs at any of the hotels I believe. The one at Poly is really cute!

As for the margaritas, try your hardest to go early. Like, world showcase opens early. Lunch or dinner time or early afternoon, they set up a queue that almost every slightly inebriated guest thinks the exit is the entrance and vice versa. They even set up a hostess to get a table inside. It's a small small place and wasn't designed for the amount of people packed in there. They really need to make the front window with the mezcals displayed a to go window instead :)

Early though, you can walk in, get a drink, sit down and enjoy. The "apps" are just chips with a few dipping choices and is a small serving and pricey but quite good. I've seen folks with kids in there at slow times. It's a nice quiet spot some points in the day.

If you stay inside though, be sure to ask for your drink in the to-go cups. The cups are a few ounces bigger than the glass ones they serve from. Bigger cup= more margarita!
