KttK question

As my ADR is this Monday, I'm trying this weekend to pin down what times I want to try to get. I want to do a couple of the tours, and will have to book my meals around the tour schedule.

My question is: As someone who already knows a lot about the behind the scenes stuff about WDW, will the KttK tour be worth the time? Will there be anything that will really surprise me? Are the Utilidors that impressive to see?

I haven't been on the tour (I'd love to go), but my wife has. She says it's "interesting and pretty cool to see backstage". I'm not sure how helpful that is. She went into the tour knowing pretty much all the "secrets", but still enjoyed seeing them first hand. She's looking over my shoulder and says you should take the tour. :)

What's holding me back is really is me thinking about if I want to use five hours of park time to do the tour, rather than go on rides and such.

You do get to go on a couple of rides - Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion, and you get a full lunch at Columbia Harbour House, which was delicious and helped justify the cost of the tour. I, too, hesitated to go on the tour for years because I felt I already knew all of the secrets, and quite frankly was afraid to go behind the scenes that it would ruin some of the magic for me. I was convinced to do it by another Disney fanatic family member who said that I would love it - and she was right! Going behind the scenes was very interesting, and it's a great opportunity to ask questions! You'll have a great time!

It's a great tour for people who are not Big Disney Nerds. If you're a BDN, then you may find you have heard or read many of the things they tell you. I know I had.

We went on three rides...possibly Jungle Cruise, PotC and Haunted Mansion (but wouldn't bet my life on that...it's been a while.)

The utilidors are not impressive at all. If you've been in the basement of any largish building, it looks like that...only they didn't paint it bright colors, at least in the area I was in. It was very drab and kind of grey, I think. I remember thinking that it would cost very little, if anything, extra to paint more cheerful colors and wondered who made the decision to stick with a "Boring and Depressing" theme. You just go down, stand around for a bit while they talk and then go back up. There is no big tour of the tunnels.

We ate in the upstairs area of CHH. When we checked in for the tour, we were given a "menu" of a few items from which to select our lunch and it was waiting for us when we arrived.

The pin is very cute. :)

I'm glad I did it, but have no desire to repeat the experience. Can't say if it would be "worth" the time and/or money for someone else.

We went in 2002 so it's been awhile. For my DH and I our least favorite part was the utilidors. My favorite parts were seeing the parade storage and we had a wonderful tour guide who pointed out a bunch of "secrets" on Main Street, Liberty Square and Adventureland. We rode HM, POTC and JC after being told some fun "hidden" things to look for and the history of the rides. Lot's of Disney history etc. We thought it was worth the time and money. No need ot go again though unless they change up the tour.

We did the tour back in '07 and enjoyed it. Our guide was really good and you could tell he had a genuine passion for Disney. It's a lot of walking so that is one thing you want to be prepared for if you take the tour. I agree with the above poster about the utilidors being kind of drab. I guess I thought there would be more down there but they are really bland. You don't really get to see much (I think we did see the room where the pins are kept for the employee trading). The one thing I remember seeing is a big skid of water and our guide telling us they buy them for around 15 cents per bottle and sell them for around $3 so they are great profit points for Disney. Needless to say we bring our own bottled water now.
