hey all

i have read in lots of different places that the best coffee available on WDW is at the kona cafe and as we are going next week and dont have any friends / boyfriends / cousins tagging along we can actually do a few family things

we have even stayed there for 2 weeks before and visited the resort sooo many other times but not got round to it!

so is it true? and if so what shall i order? i LOVE coffee!!

You have heard correctly. The best coffee in all of WDW is at the Kona cafe at the Poly. What you will want to order is the Kona press pot. This will give you about 3 cups of the best freshly ground 100% kona bean coffee. The Kona press pot is about $8 and worth every penny.

Another thing you will want to try at Kona cafe is the Tonga toast (banana stuffed french toast) or my personal favorite the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes.

You could also go to the Kona Island Coffee Bar and just get a cup, you don't have to get a meal at the kafe to try the coffee (but you may want to anyway. :slurp: ).

There is a slight difference between the two. The Kona coffee at the coffee bar is a Kona blend which traditionally has to only have 10% Kona beans whereas the press pot is 100% Kona beans. A Kona blend coffee is about $8/lb and 100% Kona is around $40/lb and IMHO has a much cleaner coffee flavor. Definitely worth the extra cost for the occasional splurge.

You can a bag of 100% Kona Coffee to take home with you at The Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Resort, but I don't recommend it. While it was great coffee, it was very expensive. I forget exactly how much we paid for it but I think it was around $40 for a 12 oz bag. You can buy it ground up or in whole bean form.
It definitely got us hooked on 100% Kona coffee. We googled Kona Coffee after we got back home and found several sites in Hawaii that sell Kona coffee for $20-$25 a pound. The sites are approved by the KCC (Kona Coffee Council) so you be sure you're getting the real stuff. We joined the Bag a month Club so now we drink 100% Kona coffee every day.:slurp:

oooh tonga toast sounds yum!!

thank you all!
If you happen to get over to Boatwrights at PORS they have a similar breakfast simply called banana stuffed french toast. I think it is pretty much the same thing except they add strawberries.
