Kipper question to our English friends

Hello, I have a question for our friends across the pond (you know who you are!) My 23 month old DD LOVES Kipper the dog (based on the books by Mick Inkpen). We have 4 video tapes and she loves them. I have found a few books, but not other merchandise. I have not been able to find any more videos or Kipper on DVD.

I was wondering if Kipper is big in England and if you are able to find kipper dolls and toys and DVD's.

"Would you like a dog, like a dog, like a dog like Kipper?" :)

I've got two small kids and I've never heard of Kipper. If he was big here, I'm sure I would have.

If you've got videos, perhaps the same company that markets those would also do toys, etc?

Also, have you had a look on the web for links to Kipper? Don't blame me if you get a lot of smoked fish links instead!

I did find a stuffed doll at Barnes and Noble.com. I plan to get it for her for her 2nd brithday next month. Since it was an english show I was kinda hoping they would have some stuff at England at Epcot. (Just a wish, it is full of Winnie ther pooh and Peter rabbit.)

If you never heard of it, check it out. Really cute viedos, and they are even fun for adults to wacth. The prices seem to be good, and a whole hour on each tape.

Maybe they market it more in America, even though it is an English show (my daugher now says "ready, steady, go! Instead of the american ready, set go!" How funny is that?)

I know NickJr here used to show it, but they took it off the air before my daughter got into it. I am really sad about this.

Ohhhh, how cute tenchu. Your secret is safe with me (I don't know about the other 800 people who are on this site!) Well good to know they are out there. I had found those web sites, I don't think the english vedios will help, I think the system there is different then here. I will get the doll later, she has been asking for one. Haven't found any Tigger, Pig, Arnold or Jake toys. I havne't been able to find any board books here, but apears they do have them in England.

You must have good taste!!!!

So Kipper is also a smoked fish?

Yeah, he was named after a smoked fish!

I'll try and find out where that toy came from, but i think you'll be lucky if they still stock them.

Sorry.

A Kipper is a smoked herring, eaten at breakfast if you can a) be bothered to cook it and b) don't mind all the tiny bones. That's probably why it's eaten on holiday rather than at home. Very tasty though

Upon further internet searching I was able to find 2 different dolls on Ebay, but I am not sure abouting biding on ebay, never did it before and I am leaving for WDW in 3 days, so I will miss the last bid time. Oh, well. I will keep looking and when I get back see what ebay has to offer.

I've only used ebay once but it worked for me. I bid for a pool table and probably ended up paying a bit over the odds for it. Thank God I don't attend live auctions or I'd be seriously skint. Generally, I've heard good thinks about ebay but you do need to be careful. If you're going to miss the deadline, you can put a reserve bid in, which will not be exceeded. That way, you can bid what you think the doll is worth and if you win, great. It may not cost you the full reserve, in which case, you will have got a bit of a bargain. If you don't win, you lose nothing. Good luck if you decide to bid.

Hi there PhD's!

Now your daughter has probably long forgotten about him, but when i stumbled across my kipper toy the other day, i remembered about this thread.

Luckily, i kept the labels on him, so i discovered that he was made by 'Born to play', but unfortunately they no longer seem to have much to do with him.

The rights seem to be owned by HIT entertainment though, and they do still have something on their site.

I cant see any dolls, but this site might be worth a little look around.

Hope this is a help.

Thank you so much tenchu, that web site is great. :sohappy:

We did find a Kipper doll back in March (it even talks) we ended up getting it through Ebay. We also found a small bean bag doll at Borders (a bookshop around here.)

She still loves Kipper we have 7 videos and I can't wait until they come out with me. It looks like there are some episodes that hasn't been released in the US yet. I hear they used to show them on Nick Jr, but that was before my DD was born.

Parents of young kids out there, look into Kipper. It really is a cute show.

Thanks again, little PhD is going to love that web site!!!!
