Kingdom Keepers

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received a book for Christmas, and just finished reading it. The book's title is Kingdom Keepers. It's about people who are inside the WDW theme parks after they close. They then go through a series of adventures while in the parks. I didn't know the book existed and I thought it was good read. Thought I'd pass along the information. The author is Ridley Pearson.

I tried for years...

to get Disney's games group to develop a game based on the adventures of a child after the park closes. The idea was a mystery revealed by finding clues throughout the attractions, restaurants, and shops. Those who failed during challenges would become permanent residents of It's a Small World. Winners would be turned into an animated character to live in Fantasyland the rest of their lives. I finally gave up when a VP told me they didn't want to create additional interest in something that plagues each park each night; people trying to stay behind after closing.

Personally I think it would have been a great game and the storyline. Perhaps this book will open someone's eyes!

So, this is a story based on people that have stayed in the park? Or just someones imagination of what could be done? Could you throw me some more details, please?

I liked this book too. I just thought the ending was too abrupt. But it was a cool read because I knew all of the places that they went to in the parks.

This was the first book in a trilogy, hence the abrupt ending. I don't know when the next installment will be out.

Although there are other threads on this topic, I'll just jump in here and say again that I enjoyed this book.
Keep in mind it was meant for young readers. But, I think it's a fun read for anyone who loves Disney World.

It's good to know that this is just the first in a trilogy. I wish I had known that to begin with. I just finished it last night and I wasn't completely thrilled with it. I know the target audience is young adults, but i think even then it underestimates their intellegence a bit. It was like the author was more interested in showing that he, the author, had backstage knowledge of WDW (things like the trash system, and other such behind the scenes details) than telling his story. Maybe I'm just picky, but I was glad I bought it used instead of paying full price. Hopefully the next will be a vast improvement, as I think the premise of the story is excellent.

Is it just me or did the first thing that cross your mind on hearing of the concept of the book was it's a new version of "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweilder"? Just instead of the New York Museum of History (or was it museum of art) and the micheangelo statue, it's Disney?

Oh, thanks. I didn't know that there would be more books. That makes me happy:) . I had thought that that might be a possibility but I wasn't sure. Thatks for the info.

My first thought was "The WDW Code", KK failed to deliver the excitement of the hunt in that book though. I guess because it's been so much in the news lately is why it hit me first. Yours is a great comparison though. With the exception of that even at my age (I'll be 27 next week), I still enjoy the book and movie of "The Mixed-Up Files" and KK was mediocre for me.
