Another idea of mine is that of a specatcular darkride/movie combo, think Universe of Energy. It features a prominent Kingdom Hearts/Epic Mickey-crossover story. Let’s make one thing clear here, I’m not a fan of the Japanese anime-figures, but I really liked the overall idea of travelling across the various Disney-worlds with all the characters helping you. Also, I really like the story of Epic Mickey and bringing the old forgotten characters back. So I decided to try to combine the stories and the result is Kingdom Hearts & Epic Mickey: A Tale of Two Brothers. This massive attraction uses the same ride system as Universe of Energy. The first part is a 4D-movie.
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit rules Wasteland, but things really escalated. The Phantom Blot travelled in time, has taken over the control over the Heartless and possesses other characters (since they have no hearts either). The Phantom Blot throws Oswald from his throne and makes himself King. He operates with the League of Disney Villains. Oswald, reluctantly, calls for the help of King Mickey. King Mickey sends Sora, Donald and Goofy to various Disney-worlds to recruit other Disney-characters for the battle against the Phantom Blot.
Now here is where the action starts! Here, the theatre seating breaks up into six multi-passenger vehicles that take guests on a seven minute journey through various Disney-worlds, seeing Sora, Donald and Goofy recruiting Disney-characters for battle. Another segment is, where the characters are preparing for battle and making a plan. Leaving the darkride, the vehicles enter a second theatre where they reassemble back into their original theatre seating formation. The second part of the movie is shown.
King Mickey is leading the attack and as he says “Let’s Go!”, an epic battle begins. After defeating the Phantom Blot, Oswald takes back his throne and, still reluctantly, thanks King Mickey, Sora and the whole gang for saving his Wasteland. The possessed characters become normal again and finally gain their hearts, making Wasteland a beautiful place again.
Also featured is The Mysterious Tower, the magical study of Yen Sid (where also his model of Wasteland is shown, as a nod to Epic Mickey) and the Disney Castle Mystery Tour, a tour through the Castle of King Mickey. Each room is fully explorable and feature some surprises. Many references to other areas and attractions are scattered throughout the attractions, so keep an eye open.
