Kim Possible Testing

On Tuesday, 11/25, my family was able to participate in the Kim Possible testing at Epcot. Let me say it was AWESOME!!! There were 6 of us participating, so they broke us into 2 groups. We were given the Kimmunicators and sent on our way. The adventure was very easy to follow and features some very cool special effects. We were only supposed to be testing in Norway, but the group I was in was sent to China. The ages in the groups ranged from 38 to 8, and everyone really enjoyed it.

Cannot wait for this to go live! Team Possible CMs said probably by the end of January '09 it would be ready. There will be 7 missions and they will all be different each time you participate. Just going through one country was fun, so I can imagine how fantastic it will be to go through all 7.

The missions took us to places in the World Showcase pavilions that we hadn't really paid much attention to previously, which led to us doing some more in-depth exploring once we were finished with our missions and back together as a group, so that was cool, too.

KP rocks!

They are doing Cast Member testing this week and next week. So they have most of the bugs worked out already. But are still behind in some areas like the sign up location on the FW/WS bridge due to contractor problems. It still seems like a go for a Jan 09 opening.

We saw a Team Possible CM outside the Land pavilion and she asked if we were interested in doing some testing for them to fine-tune certain points of the attraction. We were given a Fastpass with a time on it and location, so we headed over to Norway at the specified time. They have a cart there near the Viking ship and we had things explained to us and were given a Kimmunicator and sent on our way.

The Kimmunicator gives you all the clues and you need to solve certain quests and be in specified locations for the special effects to be activated, which were done by using the Kimmunicator. My group went to China and we were sent to several different areas in the pavilion by Wade, Kim, and Ron, to help find a stolen relic that Monkeyfist had hidden. The Kimmunicator has a screen, just like on the show, and Wade, Kim, and Ron are animated just like on the show and give you clues and directions that way. There was a nice, episodic storyline, and several exciting surprises in the areas we were sent to. At the end of our mission, there was a drop-box location to turn in our Kimmunicator.

We later found out that we were not supposed to be sent to China but that all of their testing was supposed to be in Norway, and this was where the other half of our group went. My son was in that group and when they were finished, he took me around to the different things they saw and explained all of the special effects. At the end, we completed a questionnaire, pretty specifically about fine-tuning the mission, the use of the Kimmunicator, the special effects, and the length of time. It took us about 20 minutes to complete.

I don't want to give away the special effects because you would never know them just by looking at these items in the China area. Let's just say it was very surprising and very, very cool to see how things interacted via the Kimmunicator!

I thought this was an interesting part of your story because it seems to me that maybe one of the reasons for this new attraction or interactive mission is to get people to realize that there is much more to the World Showcase countries than just the facade. I would imagine most people don't spend much time touring the countries as much as they could because they would rather be on M:S or TT or Soarin' or they just don't care. This new attraction would obviously be something new and exciting but would also open peoples eyes to parts of world Showcase they had no idea even existed. Just a thought.

Yeah, that was pretty much the impression we got of it, as well. It worked on us, too, as we wound up taking my son to see some things he hadn't seen before and he was really excited about the whole thing. My kids have always enjoyed WS, and they're still little. We save the rides at Epcot for Extra Magic Hours most of the time anyway because there's just so much to see and do in WS.

I have to say as much as the theme is stale on it I am very excited to try it out. The past few times I was at EPCOT Center I noticed a few things here & there that are a part of it but never saw anyone testing because we got there later in the day.
