Since it's all but confirmed a new KidZone is replacing the current one come Summer 2016 (maybe a little earlier or later), I figured this is prime real estate for armchair Imagineering even though it is in a Universal theme park.
There's 3 rules:
1. $500 million budget
2. No irrelevant IPs (no Yogi Bear or Rugrats
)
3. If possible, leave E.T. unscathed - but a massive upgrade is fine
You can use any extra spaces within KidZone, maybe relocate the parade building if you choose. Other than that, the sky's the limit
So let's start with mine:
The following will get repurposed for this revamp -
1. KidZone Pizza
2. Animal Actors
3. Barney
4. Fievel
5. StarToons stage
6. Curious George sadly
Along with making use of backstage areas, relocating the entrance of E.T. and empty spaces within KidZone
The overall theme is a blend of tropical jungle with woodland forest... basically the front end is tropical while the back end is woodland.
Kid Paradise is the working title
Animal Actors is demoed for a Dora mini-land consisting of:
1. Dora show for 75% of space - $15 million
2. Dora flat ride in remaining 25% - $15 million
3. Permanent Dora & Boots M&G across from Madagascar - $15 million
4. Extra enhancements/small theming touches - $5 million
$50 million for Dora mini-land
KidZone Pizza, Fievel's Playland, and the former ET Toy Closet (a new one will replace it!) are demoed and used to complete the SpongeBob mini-land started by Storepants which will feature:
1. The Krusty Krab - $10 million
2. The Chum Bucket - $10 million
3. Bikini Bottom Boating School (Autopia style ride thru Bikini Bottom) - $60 million
4. Jellyfish Fields flat ride - $10 million
5. Palm trees and other small touches - $10 million
$100 million to complete SpongeBob mini-land ($150 million total cost as of now)
Barney is demoed and some backstage space is repurposed for a Scooby-Doo themed mini-land which will consist of:
1. Scooby Doo dark ride (Fantasyland style but with full AAs and projections) - $55 million
2. Mystery Machine food truck - $5 million
3. Scooby and gy M&G location - $5 million
4. Spooky trees and other small touches - $10 million
$75 million for Scooby mini-land ($225 million total cost as of now)
StarToons stage gets a tropical beach party show with plenty of pop tunes from the 50s all the way to today. Nothing major - $10 million ($235 million total cost as of now)
Now this is where things get interesting - Curious George is moved over closer to Woody while the Nuthouse gets expanded for this Illumination mini-land:
1. Curious George Goes to Town gets a nice upgrade with plenty of new bells and whistles - $15 million
2. A carousel is built outside of Curious George - $10 million
3. Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse is expanded to make it a family coaster through a woodland factory with AAs and other enhancements - $25 million
$50 million for this new Illumination mini-land ($285 million)
Curious George and the carousel have gone where the parade building used to be (it's been relocated) but the biggest part will be using roughly half of the MIB/Springfield plot
This will include:
1. a Smurfs Village play area - $20 million
2. My Little Pony dark ride - $55 million
3. Hello Kitty restaurant - $20 million
4. HTTYD E-ticket using Pandora's Box technology - $120 million
$215 million for the big expansion to the area ($500 million total cost)
