Kids play area at Epcot

I'm sorry, I didn't get a chance to snap any pictures, and I don't think anyone else has posted this, but there is a kid's play area being built at Epcot at the corner by the McDonalds outlet and the walkway leading to all the roses. They've hidden everything behind evergreen bushes, but it was quite easy to see. Too bad they had to take out some of the wonderful rose bushes for this, but it will be nice for the kids to have something to play on.

Is it perhaps the kid's area that they build for the Flower and Garden Festival? They usually build something off of that pathway...

It's been a few years since I've been to the F&G Festival, so I can't comment on that. It did look sort of permanent, but what is at Disney? Maybe someone else can comment.

This is probably the "Pluto's Playzone Featuring Evos Playsystem" that is going in for the Flower and Garden Festival. It was mentioned on Disneylink today.

There were nets there to climb on in early May 2005, during the F&G Festival. They were not there when we went back in August 2006.

That play area construction is for the Flower and Garden Festival.
Usually, they construct two or three differenct areas in Future World and one or two in the World Showcase. They are dismantled after F& G is done. They also assemble a couple similar areas during Food and Wine, but not as many.

But, while on the subject, maybe this should be a new thread, does anyone miss the Viking Ship Play Ground in Norway. My kids really miss it. It was a great place to stop for adults and kids in the World Showcase. It let the kids let off some steam.

I would agree with the fact that its for the Flower & Garden Festival. We were there last week and they were moving in quite a few small evergreen trees in large pots...the area was outlined with them.

Yeah, my kids miss it, too. I'm sure it's been mentioned elsewhere but why did they close it off? Due to splinters?

Yup, that area is for the Flower & Garden Festival. I was there last year, it's a nice little area with a few good photo op's ;)

I didn't know it was gone. When did this happen?

Except for the F&G playground, wasn't that the only real free play area for kids in Epcot? (Except the fountain) Am I forgetting some other place?

The ship is still there but it is now closed up and you can't get into it.

As for the playground in the rose gardens. That is there every year.

Does anyone know why they closed it?

There is a tunnel play area (similar to Chick-fil-a) at the end of Mission Space. We usually take our 3 yr old in there to cool off.

I was not even aware they closed the Viking ship, that sucks anything fun for the little ones get closed because people try and sue when their kids get hurt!

They actually have several play areas this year, through out the park.... once I go through my pics from Sat, I will post some of them...

There is a small counter service place between Canada and Imagination that sells McDonalds fries and McNuggets. (Great right before Illuminations).

I mentioned the Mission Space play area because I believe it is the only permanent play area in Epcot. I know they put up temporary ones during F&G festival as well.
