Just curious and we had a debate at work today, but can you be kicked off a cruise for misbehavior or theft or whats the deal?

All of the above and all lines have a interestingly worded para in the contract, that in short form says,if they want you off the ship, they can just leave you at the port, on your own or in the hands of the local authorities.

Thanks guys! It all starting this morning with the question of "If you were to try to throw someone overboard would you be kicked off or held on the ship until you reached US soil?" It kind of snowballed from there.

I believe "walking the plank" has survived the test of time and survived into modernity. Happened to my first born on the QE2, after she lifted a Hello Kitty bracelet. I watched my 6 year old plummet into the drink with a bit of sadness, but she deserved it.

I bet it taught her a serious life lesson, didn't it?

Ok, so, quick question.....what sparked the initial question about throwing someone off a ship? Sort of curious there...or maybe I shouldn't ask because then I'd be part of a conspiracy.

It all started with the comment of "If I get arrested I want it to be for something that no one else in the world has done and when the cop is arresting me I want them to question if what I did is even illegal." After that it just kind of snowballed into the cruise and we even touched base on if you were stuck on a deserted Island would you be liable. It's what happens when we have too much coffee and too much time before meetings.

Happens all the time. I had two people kicked off one of the ships I used to work on. One got off lucky, we were in the Caribbean and he was only headed back to South Carolina (at his own expense). He had gotten drunk and was caught beating the crap out of his girlfriend. He was put in the brig for the night then escorted ashore in St Maarten and told to head home.

The next guy must have been out a pretty penny. He was also drunk (funny how these stories all start the same way) and had been at my desk demanding I open the gift shops at 3:00 in the morning. I kept telling him he would have to wait until morning and when I said he had to head back to his room for the night or I would call security he punched me in the face. To picture the scenario he was about 5'10" and weighed about 275lbs. I was 5'8" and weighed 115lbs (geez, those were the days). I ended up with a bruised cheek and a sore jaw (thank goodness for my makeup skills) and he had to pay his way back to New Jersery from Istanbul, Turkey!

We had a member of our Rotary Club (average age 38!) tell a tale of such an incident! Apparently two dudes got hammered and got into a fight on the first night of the cruise (not Disney). They were confined to their staterooms with security sitting outside their door in the hallway. At the first port, they were dumped off and had to find their own way home. Impressive indeed!

don't know about all cruise ships, but I know Disney does
Is "The Disney Cell" like "The Disney Vault"?
Does it have mouse ear shaped windows? Are you given a harmonica and taught to play the bluesy version of "Its a Small World"? Do you still have to tip your wait staff if you are incarcerated? Does the spouse get a conjugal visit? Just wondering...

Nope, he certainly didn't look very manly as he was crying while security escorted him off the ship in Istanbul and told him he was responsible for finding his own way home.

btw - just wanted to mention that I did say the guy was from New Jersey only to illustrate how far he would have to travel to get back home. There were other guys from Jersey on the ship who heard what happened and they were very gentlemanly and discussed various ways they would have defended my honour - had they been nearby when this happened I think that guy would have had a lot of trouble. I loved my "Jersey Boys" on that cruise - it was just one bad apple.
