Just curious and we had a debate at work today, but can you be kicked off a cruise for misbehavior or theft or whats the deal?
Its called a "Brig"...nautical term....savvy?Don't most cruise ships have a holding cell?
I believe "walking the plank" has survived the test of time and survived into modernity. Happened to my first born on the QE2, after she lifted a Hello Kitty bracelet. I watched my 6 year old plummet into the drink with a bit of sadness, but she deserved it.
Thanks guys! It all starting this morning with the question of "If you were to try to throw someone overboard would you be kicked off or held on the ship until you reached US soil?" It kind of snowballed from there.
It all started with the comment of "If I get arrested I want it to be for something that no one else in the world has done and when the cop is arresting me I want them to question if what I did is even illegal." After that it just kind of snowballed into the cruise and we even touched base on if you were stuck on a deserted Island would you be liable. It's what happens when we have too much coffee and too much time before meetings.I bet it taught her a serious life lesson, didn't it?
Ok, so, quick question.....what sparked the initial question about throwing someone off a ship? Sort of curious there...or maybe I shouldn't ask because then I'd be part of a conspiracy.

Is "The Disney Cell" like "The Disney Vault"?don't know about all cruise ships, but I know Disney does
Happens all the time. I had two people kicked off one of the ships I used to work on. One got off lucky, we were in the Caribbean and he was only headed back to South Carolina (at his own expense). He had gotten drunk and was caught beating the crap out of his girlfriend. He was put in the brig for the night then escorted ashore in St Maarten and told to head home.
The next guy must have been out a pretty penny. He was also drunk (funny how these stories all start the same way) and had been at my desk demanding I open the gift shops at 3:00 in the morning. I kept telling him he would have to wait until morning and when I said he had to head back to his room for the night or I would call security he punched me in the face. To picture the scenario he was about 5'10" and weighed about 275lbs. I was 5'8" and weighed 115lbs (geez, those were the days). I ended up with a bruised cheek and a sore jaw (thank goodness for my makeup skills) and he had to pay his way back to New Jersery from Istanbul, Turkey!

Oh my god!! This is totally awful!! He is definitely NOT a man by doing that!
For that, I think Thrown Overboard To The Sharks would be a more fitting form of discipline than being detained. But then again, I'm not law enforcement. He had gotten drunk and was caught beating the crap out of his girlfriend.
