Can anyone give me any information about this because we are hoping to be able to do it when we go in November? If anyone's taken it, please tell me what it's like. Also, I'm 15, I turn 16 in February so I will still be 15 when we go. It says 16 and older, do you think Id still be able to do it? I mean 3 months doesnt make a really big difference. Do they even check ID or anything like that?

Do a Search for "Keys to the Kingdom" there is a very informative thread including a detailed report of the tour from one of the other members, I can't remember who posted it.I have done it and was great.

My wife and I took the tour on our Honeymoon. They did check our names when we checked in that morning, just to make sure you are who you are. I think you would be fine, as they are not looking at the date you were born. They just don't want young children or rowdy kids on a tour that is mainly a guide talking where you are learning things. People would be ed if they paid money and heard some teenagers blabbling the whole time. But I wouldn't worry about it.

We found it fun and informatibve. Nothing mind blwoing, but it was nice to enter a few rides in the back entrance and go backstage up close with the floats and below the Kingdom in the utilidors.

Have fun

Thanks, I think the real reason they dont let anyone under 16 though is because they dont wanna ruin the magic for little kids. I mean if you're ten, walking around in the utilidor and you see Mickey without his head, it could dramatize you for life. But I think I'm old enough to handle that :animwink:

When we took it a few years ago, we could take pictures of anything we wanted in the park.

But, pictures were absolutley forbidden when backstage. We had to put our cameras away and were given a pretty stern warning by the tour guide.

Yes, but with the tiny little cameras available to the public now, backstage pictures are becoming very common. Also, some CM's take backstage photos and post them on the Internet. As a result, some changes have taken place with the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour.:zipit:

That's too bad. It was pretty cool when we did it. We didn't see much of backstage, the utilidoor, costuming, the wig shop (probably not the official name, but the place where they do the wigs for the AA and costumes), the shop where they store the parade floats, etc. but it was enough to make us oooh and aaah.

Other than that, we didn't see much else. While in the utilidoor, we saw a couple of headless chipmunks, and Ariel showing up for her shift (it was kind of weird seeing her a couple of hours later in the parade.)

OK then. I'll probably get razzed unmercifully for this, but how do you sign up for the tour? I went on disney.com and searched around for awhile, but I couldn't find it.

I think the phone number is (407)WDW-TOUR (939-8687). The last I knew, the Keys to the Kingdom tour cost $58 + park admission.

So you have to call and specifically sk for it, eh? I've never seen it mentioned in the Passholder newletters I've been getting from Disney. How are people supposed to find out about it?

BTW - thanks for your help :D

No Problem :)

It's actually the Walt Disney Travel Co. that handles the reservations and everything. There are quite a few pages on the web about the various tours, but I originally found out about them in the Birnbaum guide to WDW. Last month I went on the Backstage Magic tour (MK, Epcot and MGM) and it was excellent :D - well worth the $200 it cost.

My husband and I are doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour on Sept. 30th! Can't wait!

I found a link on the Disney website (it was fairly well hidden) that revealed a phone number (407-WDW-TOUR) that you can call. They then faxed me a list of all of the tours that they have available and told me to call back if I wanted to book one. They were fairly accomodating, but I did wish I had been able to book it online directly rather than having to use the phone.

I was told to be sure to show up early, with a photo id in hand to prove who I am. (Could be security issues since 9/11.) I was also told no cameras or video camera's under any circumstances.

I hope this helps! I know I'm excited about it!
