Keys to the kingdom tour is it worth it ?

Traveling to the world in 82 days. I was wondering if the keys to the kingdom tour should be included in our current plans ?

I know the tour is probably worth the $99 per price tag but my worry is the trade off for the five hours the tour takes.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I think only you can decide on the value of your time.

It is a good tour, and if you want to see backstage, it fits the bill.

Have a great trip!

Personally...I say yes. We loved it and plan to do it again. Loved seeing the utilidors, back entrance into the haunted mansion (where the VIPs like Hollywood Stars go through), and seeing the warehouse where the parade floats are kept. Also no wait for Pirates of the Caribbean or Jungle Cruise. We had radio hearing devices so we could hear every word the cast member spoke. We also had a great view from our window table at the lunch (included) on the second floor of the Columbia Harbor House. Nothing bad to say.

Still...spoiler alert for kids...you may see Disney characters backstage walking around with their costume heads off. We saw several.

The only tour I've done, but it was so much fun. I was 16 at the time and even I wasn't bored ;)

You'll have lots of fun if you decide to go!

We did the tour a couple of weeks ago. I feel it is absolutely worth it. Like mentioned above you do get to experience a few attractions with no wait, lunch was at Tomorrowland Terrace and was great. It makes you look at the parks differently after. Wonderful experience. Ask about any discounts you may be eligible for AP, DVC, Visa card too.

We thought it was worth it. We were a little disappointed that they changed the lunch from the harbor house to the Tomorrow land terrace. When we booked it they still had the Habor House listed as the lunch stop. It was in dec and that day it was rather cold out. Not ideal for an out door lunch. And I think the harbor house has better food. Aside from that it was definitely worth it. Not sure its one I would want to do multiple times though, but glad we did it once.

I was surprised to read that much had been switched. Harbour House was great, especially since you sit upstairs in that alcove area. And I love their food.

also, the two rides we got to go on where jungle cruise and haunted house. for the jungle cruise the tour guide took over the narration and gave a lot of back ground info about the ride instead of the normal speel. For Haunted house they took us through the side entrance that is normally used by employees and VIPs. these rides may change but i think for the most part those are they two rides you will get. all the backstage areas we toured were very interesting. we got to tour the parade staging area behind frontier land and see inside the buildings where the floats are stored/maintained. And of course the utilidors. Most die hard Disney fans will already know the majority of the behind the scenes secrets they tell you but its fun to actually see things. And I'd wager even the most die hard fan will learn something new on the tour.

I would be less likely to do it if I had only a few days to vacation, but we have taken trips of 10 - 14 days. We try to add something extra into out trips to make them more memorable. Yes, Five hours taken out of a park day does seem like a lot, but we were glad we gave those hours away to do the tour. Our tour guide made the tour fun and informative and we did see things the ordinary guest doesnt get to see. It was worth the money and time taken to do it.

My wife and I have done the Keys to the Kingdom twice and loved it. The guides are great and we learned a lot of the history of the Parks including Walt's influence on the Magic Kingdom & WDW. The tour of the Utilidor is really cool. Will do again someday.

Typically kids under 16 are not allowed because of the chance sighting of a heads off. Also they don't even want adults to see that. I'm very surprised that happened. I'm in the utilidors often and rarely see headless characters. As a guest I was always intrigued by what the utilidors might look like but I couldn't justify the cost of time and money. After seeing it on a daily basis I realized I may have been very disappointed. I think the take away here is the mystery of it all and how it is somewhat gaurded from the general public. If you are a big fan (as I still am) the draw is " how do they do it?". It is an incredible operation overall, often imitated but never duplicated. In the same breath I know many who don't want to know behind the scenes because they think it will ruin the magic. I get that too:)
