Keys to the Kingdom - itinerary changes

We are doing KTTK on 8th October but with Splash down for refurb and MSEP no longer here I was trying to work out what the itinerary is likely to include.

Has anyone done the tour recently? Say in the past 12 months? Which rides were covered? Has anyone been since the parade actually closed? I seem to recall quite a lot of time spent looking at the MSEP being fixed up in storage but this will obviously no longer be possible.

I have done Keys to the Kingdom Tour in 2014 and at that time it included:

Main Street windows and history, Jungle Cruise, a look behind the scenes at Splash Mountain and at the Parade Storage, Haunted Mansion and the Utilidors.

I would be interested to hear any recent experiences from people who have taken this tour.

That's the same itinerary for our two tours - out last was in March 2016. Don't forget the float hanger area also included the garbage collection, etc. I would think since you're walking around the outside of Splash from that area, the refurbishment shouldn't affect the tour, since the back area isn't visible from the park and hopefully no screen walls. I'm sure the parade building is now used for other things which Disney can highlight - that's too big a backstage area for them to ignore as part of the tour. We run through that area during the Princess Half.

I'm sure that the itinerary changes all the time. I know it is way different then from when I took it 15 or so years ago and that they alter it to fit what is under maintenance and what other changes are in affect at the time. Even though they don't currently have a night parade, they still have a daytime one and that would probably be what would be seen on the Keys tour now.

Did KTTK in March this year, and it was as you described above. Sorry to disappoint.

Just an idea and my two cents.....Since the itinerary sounds pretty much the same now as when you experienced it before have you thought of doing one of the other tours available? I took the Keys tour and loved it but unless they changed the itinerary I would do a different tour before I did it again just so I would be able to experience something new. I haven't taken any other MK tours but I have done the Behind the Seed tour and that was excellent and relatively cheap.

Wild Africa Trek is another great tour. Not inexpensive, but probably one of the best. We've also done the Backstage Safari at AK. I believe they've redone that tour and given it a new name. It was another great "behind the scenes and hoiw we operate" tour.

I plant to do Behind the Seeds when I'm there at F&W this fall!

Personally, I would love to do undiscovered future world or the steam trains, but I'm going with two people who are fairly new to Disney and they haven't done this tour before - they're keen to see the utilidors.

To me the utilidors though interesting were the least impressive part of the KTTK tour. They look like pretty much any other industrial corridor with the exception that you won't see anyone in Disney cast member attire walking through at other industrial sites.
