Key to the world Card Question

You put the credit card up and at the end of your stay, you can pay with what ever form of payment you want. I would suggest for you to buy a disney gift card if you only want to spend a certain amount of money

Each day they could charge your card though. At the value resorts there is a $500 limit per day, which I ran up one time and my key to the world started declining. I wasn't sure why, until the desk told me what was up and said the next day it would reset. I guess they figure value resort guests have poor credit. At the moderate and deluxe the limit is $1000 to $2000. My credit card was charged a couple of times throughout the stay. During the day their cash drawers would be open and you may be able to pay it off in cash.

It's not a $500 limit per day, it's just a $500 limit. If you spend $50/day for ten days, they'll charge your card at the end of the tenth day.

If you reach your limit while in the parks or at a Disney restaurant and get declined, you can ask them to call your resort and charge your credit card and that will establish a new limit for you to use your KTTW card against. The corollary to that is that if you want to pay in cash you have to pay before they charge your credit card. If you reach your limit while out, you can go to the desk before you go to bed for the night and pay it off. I'm pretty sure they charge it overnight after you've reached your limit. If you want to be sure they don't charge your card, make sure you pay your balance long before you reach your limit.

The limits are $500/Value, $1,000/Moderate and $1,500/Deluxe&Villas.

Yes, the charges definitely happen overnight at some point. I've never come anywhere close to my "limit", but have always been charged the night before checking out. I'm not sure if this is the case for everyone, or just those who opt for the express check-out service.

Incidentally, I don't ever, in any trip I've made, ever recall being asked if I'd like to sign up for express check out, but I always seem to be "enrolled." Do you get it automatically if you leave a credit card on file? I think it's great and would always continue doing it, I just don't ever remember being asked if I wanted to partake.

I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the small print.

I know they hang a bill summary on your door at some ungodly hour of the morning on your check-out day. It shows that they've charged your credit card for all purchases up to the evening before. Then if you use your KTTW to charge breakfast or last-minute purchases, those just show up later on your credit card statement as a single charge.

To answer one of the OP's questions that hasn't been answered, yes you can set up a room charge with cash, if you want. It'll then work like a debit card until you run out of money. But using cash would require you to stop at the front desk on checkout day to get any left-over balance.

They can also set a lower charge limit than the default 500/1000/1500 levels.

Those are both actions that don't happen that often, so it might take some extra time or for a manager to come and help the CM take care of it.

The KTTW IMO is not all that.

Last year while at Caribbean Beach we asked at the concierge desk on day one of our trip that since we had our WDW VISA tied to it for purchases, COULD daily purchases be summed up and accumulated towards the 10% discount on merchandise purchases over $50? In our minds that would be easy and safer instead of having the VISA on our person for purchases since the KTTW is to make it so much more convenient to charge to your room. Both our land portion stay at CB and the cruise we took before arriving on property were both booked using the WDW VISA as well and the balance was totally paid off before the vacation even began.

Basically the CM’s at the concierge desk said sure you can as long as you tie your WDW VISA to the KTTW and at the end of your trip the total will show up and the discount will be taken off the balance of your total bill of your accumulated merchandise. That takes in consideration that NOT all places honor the 10% discount where you buy stuff with the WDW VISA. Well we shop smart and usually find what we want at places that DO offer the WDW VISA discount.

Well guess what, no discount. We spent a pretty good sum of money on gifts for family as well as our own souvenirs while there. If I had known the total was not eligible as we were mislead to believe I would have done as in the past and made sure purchases over $50 each were done to capture the discount with each swipe of the WDW VISA. As I’m sure most know it’s pretty easy to rip thru $250+ on shopping sprees at DTD or in the parks.

Many calls to WDW VISA and the CB Resort were done after we returned home from our vacation once I got the first CC statement. Apparently they have a training issue as even SOME CSR’s at WDW VISA told us to wait for the next statement and the discount will be taken off being we booked the whole vacation using the WDW VISA. 3 months/3 statements and no discount. I could have disputed the charges…but we had the merchandise and were happy with it. Just not that fact that the KTTW screwed us out of some cash for sure.

SO this year we’ll just use the KTTW for park admission and put all the rest manually on the WDW VISA in $50 or above amounts. We may even buy a few WDW GIFT CARDS, but with those you don’t get the 10% at participating shops on property. Likely we will use those on the ship as discounts are not available with the VISA. BTW, to our surprise the DCL does not offer any WDW VISA discounts on merchandise at all. We were shocked to hear that from a ship CM when we asked about it while shopping on the Dream last May. NOPE, the DCL is its own company under DISNEY with their own set of rules and promotions.

Anyway, hope you have a great time! We did – and were headed back this May.
