Love surprise trips!! Just make sure she doesn't plan anything on the days of the trip... Perhaps get some neighbor or something to send a fake save the date card!!

We already have a "stay cation" planned then so she won't make other plans. She wanted to have a party one of the weekend nights and I had to guide here away fr that with a cover story that "I already ordered us tickets for some shows as a surprise so won't work".

It's not exactly lying - just that the tix are la Nouba and wdw and require us to first fly to FL :)

Also she thinks she's working one of those days (but I got her schedule changed behind her back with help of her boss!)

I can keep my mouth shut but it's a bit of torture to not share the pre trip excitement. I've gotten her excited about the countdown to staycation but have to bite my tongue every time she excitedly points out how many days til that!

I even talked to her about ADRs without her knowing, which was hilarious.

M: "what kinds of food should we eat when the kids aren't around? You know, like stuff we never have when they're here..."
K: "sushi! and indian food!"
M: "We should have a fancier sit down meal too"
K: "good idea."
M: "or Maybe a bar with live music?"
K: "Sounds like fun!"
...
M secretly books ADR for Sanaa, Tokyo Dining, Artist Point & Raglan road...

That's fantastic! We are just at the start of a surprise trip. Sunday is our 180 day mark. The secret is already driving me crazy!

Make sure you tell us her reaction.

We did a surprise trip for Christmas 2012. Went summer 2012 with annual passes and decided to go back at Christmas since we had the passes. It was SO hard keeping the secret from the kids, but since the trip was officially from Santa we still couldn't tell them.

We always drive. Try packing for a surprise trip that even YOU aren't suppose to know about (you know....it's from Santa so it is a surprise for everyone!).

I don't think I could wait another 180 days! I'm down to 51 days and at least once a week I've heard her wistfully mention wanting to go back...

Today I got my first personalized maps in the mail! They're super nice custom print/packaging, and paper as quality as Pirates Adventure or SotMK. If you've never ordered them from the Disney site, do it!

But I can't share them with anyone. I put stickers on our resort and all the major destinations we're hitting on the property map including DTD, la Nouba, AKL, WL, MK, EP, and HS. I'll file these in the drawer for later and bust them out with the magic bands once I finally reach the big announcement day on 8/6...

We also drive when we go to the World. Our Christmas trip, when our daughter was seven was not a surprise, but she was unsure about the whole Santa thing. We said if Santa was real he would find us wherever we were. We sent a small tree and decorations to Disney though the mail and packed presents in the car after she went to bed. I even packed a surprise present for my wife in the spare tire compartment of the car. The trickiest part was setting it all up in a moderate room, after a long day at the parks, without our daughter waking up. Thankfully, she slept like a log and we had a magical Christmas morning.

Marry me.

:)

Kidding, obviously, as our respective spouses would object, but you have one hell of a lucky wife.

Please make sure to post about her reaction when she finds out.

OMG! How did I keep it together!? K just came up with the idea to some day go to WDW without the kids. What a great idea!?

I had to get it on video under the lie that I wanted us to remember to do this some day. Little does she know we'll be at the world (admittedly not at the Poly) in just 29 days!!!!!!

OMG what a wonderful husband you are. That's amazing!
She will surely love you forever! ❤️

You can do it and her reaction will be sooooo worth it.

My husband treated me to a hot air balloon flight last time we were in Disney. He kept the secret for a couple of months and believe me that's good for him.
After 9 hours on the plane we got to the Virgin desk and the surprise was sprung.

I burst out crying as it was something I had always wanted to do. He told me it made his holiday and keeping the secret was worth it

Good luck
You can do it.
