Just saw my own private viewing of The Main Street Electrical Parade!

Just got back to our DCA view room at the Paridice Pier hotel in DL and found a surprise. It's 10PM here and DCA closed at 8 but we noticed the MSEP being tested in DCA. We are on the 10th floor and can see and here it well and thanks to mouse bits I played the soundtrack to it on my IPhone.

This is really exciting but I don't like that it is in DCA and not on Main Street.

Very cool!

I'm kind of glad it's still around, even if it's in DCA...I believe that it's a park staple and should be continuously upgraded and shuffled to park to park.

That totally ROCKS! and the music too? you are a genius!

I love that parade. I have a souvenier lightbulb cover from it...that flew off a float and hit me in the foot.
It's my favorite Disney music ever.

You should have video taped it :-)

DCA at the time needed something to bring the crowds in at night. LuminAria's failure showed that no fireworks display could be shown, so the most sensible thing to do was to bring the Main Street Electrical Parade to DCA and rename it Disney's Electrical Parade

Now hopefully when World of Color premieres, DEP will become MSEP once more.

I think you hit it on the nail.

Close... but DEP came first then Luminaria. DEP came back to DCA on July 3 2001 and Luminaria debuted at DCA on Nov 9 2001.

Also Luminaria's song "Shine" now has a home at DL as part of the Sleeping Beauty Winter Castle show. The little show that lights up the castle.

What was wrong with LuminAria...Videos depict it to be a beautiful show.

I think it was mainly the amounts of low level fireworks that caused a lot of smoke in the area, that blew back towards the crowds, and towards the GCH.

My fault. Well, I was right that DCA needed a night offering.

Bingo.

Ah...Hmm. Well, shouldn't WoC have low level pyro too?

Yes and No.

They're going for more fire and water effects than fireworks.

Ah...that's slightly disappointing, but OK.

If you had seen Luminaria, the two-month offering from Christmas '01, you would know why they aren't trying low level pyro on Paradise Bay again.

I think there is still litigation ongoing for people trying to get Disney to pay their dry cleaning bills after watching that show!
