Just returned from a wonderful trip.....

Just got back from WDW......WOW, what a great trip!! Weather was wonderful, and even thought HM was closed (our favorite ride), and Epcot was in a disarray, we still had a wonderful trip. This was our second trip to WDW, last trip 2005, we used the Dining Plan, it was such a great deal the first time, we thought we'd do it again. We stayed at the Beach Club, strangely enough, the first time we stayed we were treated to a room upgrade and stayed in room 1517 overlooking the quiet pool, this time they didn't offer an upgrade and I really didn't care, except I wanted to at least have a balcony to sit on, our room happened to be almost right across from our last room! Here's the strange part.....our last stay we checked out on the 17th and the last # in our room number was 17.......this time we checked out on the 28th and our room number was 1528!!!

My only food complaint was that we ate at the Concourse Steakhouse......food was AWFUL!!! I hate to say that about any establishment, and I'm always willing to overlook mishaps due to the large volume of people through these establishments......however, I am aware they are closing....and I think they should close!! The steak was very dry and over cooked, the strange soggy croutons under the steak was not very good, I'd prefer potato, and the dessert was stale......very disappointing! But the rest of the food was wonderful!!! We also ate at the Crystal Palace, I nearly had a heart attack when I was tapped on my shoulder, not once but 3 times!!!! However, sadly enough, I didn't recieve anything:shrug: One of the CM's who follow characters around I guess happened to find some interest in me.....the first time he tapped me on the shoulder, we just talked about where we were from etc... then again when he came around again and we talked some more......then I was at the dessert station getting some apple cobler, and was tapped on the shoulder.....I almost dropped my dessert, thinking "THIS IS MY MOMENT AND I'M STAYING IN THE CASTLE TONIGHT!!!!!". I turned around it was that CM AGAIN!!! He said to me......do you know what every child, big and small like......I'm thinking, oh boy, oh boy....it's castle time! He says to me......all kids big and small love to eat ice cream, so the next time I turn around I'd better see you with a bowl of ice cream.........ok, I just melted, NOT what I wanted to hear, my daughter turned around with a bowl of ice cream she fixed for herself and I snatched it out of her hand, tapped him on the shoulder and said here's my dream, he gave me a two thumbs up!!! Oh well......always fun to dream!! Maybe next time...:ROFLOL: We did have some "small" magical moments" but this is long enough......one magical moment was merely an accident that shouldn't have happened but that's ok.....we still enjoyed it!!

We did extend our vacation at the last minute and took our kids to the beach for the first time, boy did that have a great time......and I think the ocean is out of shells......we took home sooo many!!! I keep looking at the CD my son made for me with all 750 of our pictures from our wonderful trip!! That was definitely magical!

Concourse

We eat at Concourse Steak House almost every trip! We love it. Never complained about any of the food we ever got. I find that strange. They are not moving for a little while so I don't think that would have anything to do with it. Why didn't you tell them your steak was dry? Maybe you would have gotten a much nicer one. Anyway don't give up on it.....it really is very good!

We went in Jan '07 and cancelled dinner reservations at Le Cellier to eat at the Concourse because we were going to be at MK during the evening. That was a big mistake. We were SO disappointed. Worst meal we had during our week long stay. Best meal - ribs at the Flame Tree BBQ on our last day in the World. Looking forward to going back in 2009...

Our "accidental" magic moments...

Yes......as one of you posted, it IS hard to face the real world, I'd much rather be surrounded by characters that don't talk than by my bickering kids who are still tired and recovering from time changes and long vacation:brick:

Anyway, as for the Concourse Steak house......even though we had a bad experience there.....I'm not one to complain, I think at times even the best of restaurants are going to have some flubs here and there, I certainly didn't let it ruin my vacation........but the steak at Le Cellier was OUTSTANDING!!! So that more than made up for the dry piece of bark I had at the Concourse....:p

Magical moments......small as they are, and actually quite accidental, it was still fun. While getting the kids some french fries at a McDonalds stand at Epcot we happened to be customer 957345435083485, and recieved a free mickey icecream on a stick.....we had to share it between 5 people, but who cares, it was still fun, not to mention she forgot to ring up an order of fries and said, here ya go, have some friench fries with that Mickey....LOL, so an extra box of fries and a cold mickey on a stick when all we were getting was one box of fries to share between the 5 of us to hold the crabby kids over until lunch.....certainly made them and us happy!!

The biggest "accidental" magical moment was when we were eating at a restaurant and our bill arrived for us to sign for, the waiter said, unfortunately all of the computers are down in Disney World, so I will have to write up a bill for you.......no problem we'll wait, he came back and said, I wrote it out, but we think we are up and working again, but it only works in the restaurant and not "world wide", so we signed for the ticket and it should have dispatched to the hotel later that day......well at the end of our trip we noticed that we STILL had one sit down meal left on our card because it never dispatched and didn't take it off of our Dinning Plan.......so we made reservations for another restaurant to eat at before we left Disney World and had a nice meal on Disney!!! Since this had happened early in the week....our second day there, I would have thought it would have been resolved before we left, but somehow it was overlooked and it never showed we had dinner that night........so an extra meal on Disney was certainly magical!!! Like I said, these are "little" things that certainly were not part of the "Magical moments" but I'll take what I can get!!!

Maybe somebody else can beat my magical moments....but I haven't heard of any really. Although we were eating at Pizza Planet at MGM and I noticed a family being escorted down the steps by a man in a white outfit, with a castle on his back and I think below it it said Where dreams come true, or something like that, and the family was surrounded by what appeared to be "under cover" cast members and I heard one of the children saying something about Magical moments......now, if that was me, I'd be jumping up and down like I'd just got picked to be on the price is right!!! They didn't seem terribly excited, just tired and annoyed......maybe they just found a table and didn't get to eat lunch yet so they weren't very happy.....as I watched them walk down the steps, I thought to myself.....what's wrong with my family, we look like a nice family who would really be excited.....even to get mouse ears!!!

Oh well.......we had a great trip and many wonderful memories...I took 750 pictures and I just keep watching the DVD my son made for me with all the pictures on it, which is just as enjoyable when I'm watching from my chair in my air conditioned house...LOL.

For the rest of you.....enjoy your trip and your memories, and many magical vibes your way!!!:sohappy:

It sounds like your family had an incredible time! It's too bad you missed out on a night in the castle! Maybe next time.

It was great to hear about those accidental magical moments. As small as they may seem, those are the types of things that only happen at WDW, and always succeed in putting a smile onto a child's face.

I hope your next trip is equally as magical. :sohappy:
