The wife and I survived another Disneyland adventure. First off we were very concerned and disappointed by the amount of rides on the refurb schedule. We booked a room at the Paradise Pier hotel and received a room upgrade on the 10th floor with a view of DCA! Very nice. PP is a nice hotel BUT lacks in elevator service. First night we returned to a packed lobby which took us 15 mins to get an elevator. They are very small and 1 stroller and 3 people and its full. And boy were there a lot of strollers! The next morning it was the same thing. 10 minute wait and we finally took an elevator up to come back down. Sorry all full!
We dined at Steakhouse 55 which I highly recommend. The prime rib is to die for! My wife made the mistake of ordering the 24 layer cake for dessert which stands a good 10 inched high! It is 24 layers. I had the root beer baked alaska which did not disappoint. The second night we dined at Carthay Circle and did the World of Color package. Well worth the money and the steak hung off the plate! Daddy likey!! For lunch and breakfast we did counter service, nothing expensive but I must admit Disney does it right in variety.
My only regrets were so many rides on refurb. The hotel pool slide too as well as 1 lane of Autopia and 1 lane of Matterhorn working which really made the park feel like it was much more crowded than it was. Did I mention it was strollers from hell? Sorry ladies but those double wides take up way too much space. I'd recommend a tandem for crowd surfing. We also waited 45 mins for HM only to have it break down right as we got to the door. I almost started crying when the kid next to me did.
Speaking of crying, I would like to apologize to the boy who came running up to me wanting to pin trade but I had on a lanyard with all DCA opening day pins (which were all older than him btw) and the poor kid looked like I ruined his birthday by refusing to trade. Sorry lil' dude. I've learned a good lesson and next time I will carry some extras just in case. All in all we new what we were getting into before we left. I'd give this trip a solid 7/10. See you next time!
