Some thoughts following the first trip I’ve had to Universal Orlando in about a decade:

- It was great! I loved the whole thing, pretty much. Stayed at RP which was nice and the convenience of being able to not only skip the lines, but have easy walking or boat access to the room was a huge plus.
- IoA is my second favourite Orlando park now (and probably NA based on my experience so far), outstanding themeing for almost the whole park and a very good selection of offerings (didn’t see it all, but most)
- WWoHP is the best themed area of any theme park I have seen so far, including Disney (though I have yet to see Carsland), the ride the shops, all great. Three Broomsticks with its piles of rafters (which real birds have clearly made their home) was a great touch. The arrangement of the area when you first entered was a marvel to look at. Pictures and videos in general do not accurately give you a sense of how good this place looks.
- Tried Butterbeer, but didn’t care for the mix of Ginger Ale and butterscotch (or so it tasted to me)
- Didn’t ride Dragon Challenge because every time I was there I just ate something. No RRR for me either.
- Top 3 rides for me were HP, Spider-Man and Mummy (the suprise ending really did fool me, lol).
- Speaking of Mummy I was stuck in the single rider line for over 30 minutes the first time, while putting up with the dreaded Brazillian tourists through most of it. Why must they chant and clap?
- I think after Transformers an HP 2.0 are done I’ll rank USF>DHS, even with my love for ToT
- E.T. is much better than WDW Peter Pan. The latter looks really sad and old compared to it and its cousin in DLR. A number of things (sadly) at MK look old and tired compared to DLR and USO for that matter.
- Simpsons pre-show stuff is easily funnier than the ride itself, though that was still fun
- They don’t have anything Universal Monster related for sale. Lame.
- The monster make-up show and exhibit was much better than I thought it would be. Went back to read all the displays
- Terminators pre-show is really dated (in kind of a funny way), but I was very impressed with the main show. Did not see the 3 screen effect coming
- Best piece of merch for sale was the unicorn plush from Despicable Me
- I couldn’t pick a Marvel/Avengers or Spider-Man shirt I wanted because I could never get the right combination of background and logo I wanted. I guess I’m picky when it comes to such merch
- Got stuck on Dudley for 15 minutes (at least) and then found out sitting up front not only gives you zero leg room, but enough water to make you feel like you jumped into a pool. That’s fine cause it was so hot, but up my nose too? Not so much
- What makes the BK Bar a bar? Looks like any other BK to me
- Wanted to try the mini golf, but not enough time.
- I think in the future I’d prefer to stay here and make a side-trip to Disney (as I did with MK for a day). I like resorts where I don’t have to worry about driving or bussing to everything and I found more to like here than WDW in recent visits

That about sums it up for now, may post later.

Sounds great. How much time should we allot to walk from Royal Pacific to IoA in order to be there for early opening to WWOHP? And what's this boat you mention? Thanks in advance.

Easily. Heck, it might even be better once Transformers opens next year. The park looks better, has a better night show, has a better parade, and has a better mix of attractions.

Mummy > RNRC
Disaster > Catastrophe Canyon/Backlot Tour
MIB > TSMM
ET doesn't have a comparable attraction at DHS, so let's just go with ET = GMR
Transformers <= ToT, and not all that much less than, if it is.
Simpsons+Despicable Me > Star Tours
T2 > Muppets
Horror Make Up is amazingly fun

Only thing DHS has over USF is better live action stage shows, which hopefully will be improving at USF soon.

It's about 10 minutes, although if you want to save time leave from the lobby front entrance, turn left, than walk until you can turn left again and follow the signs from there. You'll save time that way instead of going all the way back behind the pool area and staring from there. You can take this path back, but it closes at 9pm.

The boat docks behind the pool area at RPR and stops at City Walk. From there it's like 2 minutes to USF and you can take a seperate boat to the other hotels. It runs late too with the last boat leaving RP at 2am.

Pretty much agree, although I like Muppets better and I don't care for the DHS shows. Can't comment on the nighttime as HHN prevented me from seeing it.

i have to disagree with Mummy being better than Rock 'n Rollercoaster.. Rock 'n Rollercoaster is A LOT better than Mummy IMO. but after all that's an opinion. I think that MIB has a slight edge over TSMM because of real sets, Star Tours VS Simpsons is equal, and I think Muppets VS Terminator are equal.

Cinematic Spectacular is a very well done show, especially if you're a movie fan. I love Muppets, but T2's mix of live action and 3-D gives it the edge for me. Plus, who doesn't love Kimberly Duncan?

I know it's opinion, but I don't know how you can say Rockin Roller Coaster is a superior ride. Mummy would win on it's dark ride section alone, not to mention it's superior coaster design for me.

Love the Muppets!

How so? The film does now take place in our past, not the present. Updated imagery would not really be representative of a 1990s setting.

The BK Whopper Bar actually has a slightly different, more focused (smaller) menu than a normal Burger King. It's not something unique to CityWalk, just a concept that Burger King has not expanded very much.

No kidding, RnRC is fun, but its idea of "theming" is black light painted flats (and not many of those are featured). Mummy has AAs, sets, projections and lots of fire, not to mention a better queue.

Simpsons+Despicable Me > Star Tours

I'm possibly alone on this, but I'd actually take Despicable Me by itself over any of the big simulators in town (not counting Spider-Man.) It's a more entertaining film, has great picture quality, and hasn't made me sick, unlike the others.

It's amazing how much of an improvement it is considering it uses (mostly) the same ride system as its two predecessors, which I never thought much of. They just felt like scaled down, kiddie versions of other simulators, while DM holds its own IMO. I actually consider it a solid D-ticket now.
