Just before Christmas

My family is looking at going to WDW from December 19-24. From the looks of it it appears we are going to miss out on the Christmas party. Is this true? And what other events are going on? Are there any can't miss things happening during this time?

What are the crowds like?

Is it possible to swim during this time of year...i.e. how cold is it in Orlando during December?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Hi Soonershok
The Christmas Party runs through the 19th of December so you should be able to catch the last night of it. Out of the past 6 Decembers in a row we have been to 2 of the Very Merry Christmas Parties. Trust me our trip wasn't ruined because we missed the festivities. We found it to be very crowded and the lines for the limited rides that were open were super long. However, if you like parades the Very Merry Christmas Parade was great. Have you been to Disney World in December before? It is personally my favorite time of the year. The decorations, lights and Christmas music playing in the background will really put you in the Holiday spirit. Everything that time of year is a don't miss including the decorating of the higher end hotel lobby's. You will be going at one of the busiest times of the year so make sure to get a Fast Pass for the rides with the longest lines. The weather during the day is pretty warm but bring a "warm" jacket for the evening. It can get pretty cold. It is usually warm enough to go swimming during the day and is a welcome break from the parks in the afternoon. Hope this helped. Have a great time! :xmas:

We love parades. Unfortunately our flight wont get in until late on the 19th so we will miss out. There isnt anything special for the days leading up to Christmas other than this?

No we have never been during december. Almost always it has been in July or August. I am sure we will have a great time no matter what is going on...we all love Disney and it never seems like we spend enough time there.

Thanks for the reply.

Downtown Disney (Market Place Area) has varied music and dance groups throughout the day into the evening. We watched a few local Orlando Elementary School groups sing and dance. At Epcot, there are native Santa's for each of the countries who come out at specific times of the day (check your Epcot map when you get there for times). The Magic Kingdom has a Christmas show with Disney Characters in front of Cinderella's Castle. There is also a Candle Light Processional narrated by celebrities at Epcot nightly through December that is really beautiful. There is a great Web Site for you to check out www.wdwig.com that is packed with tons of info you might want to check out. Good luck. :animwink:
