just an idea

I was wondering if it would be a smart idea to buy park hoppers a couple years in advance. We're thinking about taking a trip there in 2018 and I'm sure prices will be higher by then. Would it even work to do that?

A few things to think about if you have not already. Will you remember where you put the tickets in 2018, and would you need that money at some point prior to the trip? I always have worried about forgetting my tickets when packing, but that can happen no matter when you purchase your tickets.

Not quite sure the savings would be worth it. If they do increase (which they will) the incremental amount would only be what 25 dollars a ticket? I guess you would be saving something but to fork out all that cash 2 years in advance seems aggressive. Another thing to consider is, that your financial situation could change at any moment and you may not be able to make your trip.

Judgement call at any juncture.

Will prices suddenly jump significantly?
What would return on investment be if you invested now?
Will you lose your job between now and your expected trip?
Will your family situation still be the same?

Without a very reliable crystal ball, no-one can accurately answer all of these questions.

That said, odds are the price increases will follow the general pattern of previous years' increases. Buying a ticket now works as it doesn't activate until the first time you use it to enter the parks, then you have 14 days to use its admissions.

Nothing wrong with buying the tickets early, especially if things are good financially. We have a small briefcase style safe that we keep things like tickets in which means we always know where they are.

Thank you all for the feedback! Gave us plenty to think about... Maybe it would be better to put our money for the tickets onto a visa gift card so we could use it for other things if things come to that...

Some visa gift cards charge a monthly fee. Disney gift cards don't

Buy them from Undercover Tourist. You will save a few bucks over the Disney site and you do have a year to send them back for a refund if something comes up and you need that money back. I have done this in the past and just put them aside until we could go.

We bought from them last year and loved the discounted price! I'll have to look into that! Thank you for this info!
