Just an idea for Disney to cash in at the movies again...

This is my first thread in a long while, I just had an idea that has to be shared. Sooo here it goes.

Remember the 90s? When Disney films were huuuge events? When you walked out of the theater and said WOW, they did it again!

Personally some of my most cherished memories of going to the movies as a child were when I went to see what I respectively like to call "THE BIG 3".

Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and of course The Lion King.

So now my idea..... Why doesn't Disney take a cue from George Lucas and RE-RELEASE these 3 masterpieces in the theaters. WHY NOT RIGHT?

I try to have some respect for what the kids are into now but I just hate to look at what Disney has to offer to movie theaters now case in point Hannah Montana and the Jonas Bros. 3d movies.

I'm 22 years old and if Disney re-released these 3 films again I would turn into a 10 year old again. These movies still work, they are still powerful as ever and I think it would be the greatest treat to see them on the big screen one more time.

What do you all think? Let me know

Thanks!

Disney makes a big, huge, profound mistake by not having all the DVD's for the movies available all the time.
The idea of 'putting them back into the vault' is a bad idea that causes the Disney Company to miss out on sales, big time.

You should be able to buy a DVD of any Disney movie anytime.
That includes the classics.

Beauty and the Beast in Disney Digital 3-D hits theaters 12 February 2010.

Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King were also rereleased in IMAX in 2002.

Here is what I have anlways thought the reasoning was...

Why put in the movie theatre when you can re-release an updated DVD or blu ray from the vault every 5-10 years for 22.00/movie? This way you hit the families that can't afford to take a family or 4 or 5 to the movies $$$. They can just buy the DVDs and save money, in the long run.

Now when they re-released to IMAX this was an exception, because , let's face it, its IMAX!

I kind of wish Disney would take the classic movies and update them with computer animation (CGI). Now before anyone jumps on me for such a sugestion, sit back and think about seeing "Peter Pan" or "Little Mermaid" in an updated CGI version, along side the original.

Just a thought!

Hmmm.. yes... that would be awful :hurl: :hurl:

CG = good for Toy Story
CG = bad for Peter Pan

Assuming you mean the same CG style as in typical Pixar movies and not the traditional\CG hybrid style.

Eitherway, leave the classics alone.

I'll be interested to see how Beauty and the Beast works in Disney 3D and keep its traditional style. If the process works well and its a reasonable success I would think it might be possible to see Aladdin and Lion King in that style.

I'm thinking more like the computer animation used in PhilharMagic. It appears "traditional" but has depth and dimension to the characters and environment Traditional animation always strived to achieve this, but could never really achieve it due to time constraints and the animation process itself.
