if you plan a trip that begins in one season but ends in another, do you pay the rates for the date that your trip begins or do they use both? Our dates are possibly 12/17 thru 12/23 or possibly 12/27 thru 1/2

I think they use both dates now. It used to be if you started your trip in the "value" season you got those rates the whole trip but I am pretty sure that changed some time ago. Hopefully a travel agent will see your post and give the definative right answer.

The upgraded the reservation system last year and what it does now is if you start in value season and end in another season, the computer automatically switches the rate between the two seasons. So if you have 3 days in value and 3 in peak, the computer will adjust the rate so that you are charged for 3 days at the value rate and 3 at the peak rate. I booked an 8 night stay in December on a pin code I received via email. The first 5 nights are in the pin code window but the last 3 are not. The system automatically adjusted the rates between being on the pin code and being off the pin code.

Rates will vary based on the season each day of the trip is in, rates can even be higher on weekends and holidays.

This started just about a year or so ago.

Indeed. That's why the $500 gift card package flyer that was circulating around specified Sun-Thursday in the fine print that they used to calculate the really cheap rate specified on the card. For us, since we were wanting to stay on a couple Saturdays during our stay, the 4+3 deal worked out better for us.
