Just a few things to help anyone coming to Pop!
Our room -preferred pool view- overlooks main pool (hippy dippy pool)
I requested 2nd floor at online check in but with just a simple request to change to 4th floor near elevator the CM changed it with a smile when I arrived at check in around 1pm. I never got the room number text until after I went to the front desk which turned out fine because I was looking to change. The 4th floor was great, hardly any traffic and the noise was significantly reduced from the first floor. All preferred pool view is in 60's building and just steps from main hall. We loved being in the middle of the action, but if you like quiet this is not the place for you! Early risers and coming in after 11 from the parks you will be fine because the pool is closed and its peaceful! We went back to the room a few times for an afternoon nap and there is a CM on the mic entertaining the kids and playing music and it was quite a commotion. We are heavy sleepers so it was okay, but otherwise a nap might have been a struggle.
The room was very clean. There was three of us and one more in the room would have been too much. We brought our own coffee maker and the frig in the room didn't have a little freezer section for freezing water bottles which was a small bummer. For the money it was a great room! Also, request next to elevator and you will also be close to ice and vending.
.
The grounds and pool were spotless and manicured which amazed me because of the amount of foot traffic each day.

Front desk gives out extra towels for the pool or for your room.

I charged well over $500 on my magic band and the hotel didn't settle my bill until check out, so the 500 limit at value resorts is incorrect! I asked the CM and she said they haven't done that in years! (I had read about limits on an earlier thread)

Food isn't great...we stuck to grab and go items after my encounter with the sesame chicken! We prefer eating in the parks anyway. Some pop guests walked to art of animation to eat behind our resort across the bridge, but we were not about any more walking. Most meal combos were around $10 not including drink and very limited options.

If you want a soft drink out of the machine on your floor bring $3.25!

The pool bar Petals was very popular with the exhausted stroller carrying Dads.

Many families ate pizza poolside for lunch or dinner (delivery is available)

Bus wait was never longer than 10 minutes, most of the time less than five. They have digital boards that will post times, but they were not operational. Be prepared coming out of the parks Pop is one of the last stations for pick up, and at Hollywood it is the very last (to be expected with value resorts).

Overall great experience at Pop just remember if you like quiet and tranquil don't get preferred pool view, but if you like being close to the main hall and love the sound of pool fun it's perfect for you!

All excellent tips about the Pop. I know this is a value resort and so many people look down on those and even call it "poor people" resorts, but i just love the feel of Pop. I have stayed at moderates bit never a deluxe (waste of money in my opinion), but something always brings be back to Pop. Ive always had great experiences with the buses, the hippy dippy pool is better than many others on property, and I love the theming. My wife and I drive there so getting off property to go to the store or outside restaurant is a breeze. The paths around the resort are gorgeous at night especially by the lake. I have experienced better food courts on property but ibe realized it comes down to personal preference anyways.
3 weeks to go and ill be back to pop for 9 night. Can't wait!

I dunno...I feel a lot richer when the credit card bill arrives. :D

It's not that I wouldn't LOVE to stay deluxe...but being cheap at WDW means I can plan cruises, key west getaways and other trips the rest of the time. I really love POP (except for those thin walls!)

I like the Pop best of all the value resorts. It just seems a little less garish and more spread-out than the others. As for meals, I only ever ate breakfast at the food court. Usually a cheese omelette or something like that. I always use the Dining Plan, so I had revvies booked for places like The Brown Derby or San Angel Inn. Part of the WDW experience is eating in the parks IMO. There's nothing like lunch at Be Our Guest or dinner in the Castle. Wonderful meals and wonderful memories!

POP is one of my favorite resorts. We have stayed in values or deluxe for all of our stays. I have heard people say that after staying in deluxe you will not be able to go back to value, but I had no problem going back to POP. So many good memories.

Stayed at Pop last year in the Bowling Pin. Didn't have ANY time to enjoy the pools since we were, a too exhausted from the trip, b, taking part in a wedding which meant our days off were limited, and c, we just had too much to do. Pop was pleasant and nicely themed. Would gladly stay there again. I'd do a deluxe resort, but see, I like buying merchandise... :) So..... Extra money for a nicer room, or more money for shopping?

Thanks for the tips, We have only stayed at CB and PORS till we became Deluxe snobs we stayed at the BC and well we then had to buy DVC, normally have 2 weeks every 2 years at the BVW, but it has been a hard year and Oct 2015 to Oct 2017 was too much so DH said if I could book flights from UK, Hotel tickets and car within a set amount I could book it and the only way to stay on Disney was a Value resort with a good deal a POP it was cheaper than all stars. So we are there Oct this year for our 1st value resort stay and it seems like people only have good things to say about Pop. So thanks again.

We have stayed the gamut from value to deluxe, I have ZERO problems staying at POP. Sometimes we find POP ends up producing some of the more fun trips looking back over the past few years (going at least 4 times a year). Its very disney and fun, sometimes I find the deluxe resorts a bit too stuffy/formal for our tshirt/shorts and tennis shoe attire, but that is mostly reserved for the GF. I also prefer the informal eatery options at value, get in line and get your food quickly - simple options! We usually reserve our splurge meals for epcot WS restaurants anyway, so we are very much OK with fewer options resortside.

In my opinion POP does indeed have the best bus service; quick, dedicated, high capacity and functional with the ability to jump on AoA in a pinch should that bus show up first. I also appreciate the 'order' that a queue provides when loading at the resorts, especially during the AM rush. We have seen a few breakdowns in order at the moderate style open area bus loading queues.

We love Pop. Definitely worth the money staying there. We actually love the food there. We are staying next year and one of the biggest reasons we are is because we think the food is better at Pop then the other values.

What items are on your list for lunch or dinner so I know what to try next time for a better experience!

We just got back from a long weekend at Pop. Give the pot pie a try for dinner. I thought it was pretty darn good. My DW's go-to dinner is the rotisserie chicken with mashed taters and green beans. Another perk of staying at Pop is the close proximity to AoA and their food court. We all enjoy the create your own pasta station there.

I am about the farthest thing from a resort snob, but I have not been to Pop in some time. The only reason is we have received great discounts on DVC rentals or moderates. Through DVC (or more accurately RCI), we have gotten SSR and BWV for $1,200 for 7 nights. We had booked Pop all those trips, but the price difference of about $200 made it easier to go to the DVC resorts.

We love Pop when we stay there. We love the crowds, kids having a blast, and all that is there to see. If we need the "Deluxe" experience, we just head over, enjoy everything it has to offer, and then head back to Pop.

We love Pop, this will be the 5th time.
I would love to stay at Wilderness Lodge but the difference in price and the amount of time at the resort I just cant't justify it.
Looking forward 34 more days until we return to our "Other home"

They upped the charging limits to $1500 at the Value resorts at least 2 years ago. I know the increased limit was in place when we were at AoA in June 2015. When I asked about it then, the CM told me it had been $1500 since she started working there 9 months before -- so September 2014, probably earlier. We were at AoA again last month and they put the first charge through at ~$1300.

Great to hear recent reviews of Pop. I was there in February, and I will be there again in late August, early September for my birthday. I love the resort.

It is Pop all the way for us. We like to try to go annually and but for a one time stay at All Star Sports we have always stayed at Pop. We even started out at the Arts of Aninmation the first year they opened with reservations in the Little Mermaid rooms but after 2 nights we moved back to Pop. We shower and sleep at Pop and stay in the parks but we are fan of their theming!
