Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Animatronics and Disney

I recently watched a behind-the-scenes trailer for JW:FK, and I'm not exaggerating when I say.. wow.

If this trailer is everything to go by, the animatronics they are using look incredible. I mean my mind is blown. Now in my head, Disney has always been the kingpin of theme park animatronics (granted I haven't been to any other theme park in the last 10 or so years but still). With the JP refurbishment just around the corner I can't help but wonder.. is this where Universal is going with animatronics? Will these specific ones be put in the new ride? And will Disney feel a need to respond, when in my opinion, the reskins and refurbs (at least at DL) are going for screens and budget over expensive show scenes.

I know, the much older JP movie used an animatronic T-rex too. I'm curious as to whether or not SWL will have some advanced animatronics in their Battle-Escape attraction, as the Millenium Falcon is going to be an immersive flight simulator. Disney still has amazing, breathtaking animatronics but I can't help but akin the T-rex to the Yeti at Expedition Everest while it was still working.. What do you all think?

Film-making and theme park attractions are completely different animals (pun intended). An animatronic for a movie needs to work once or twice. An animatronic in a theme park needs to work over and over and over again hundreds of times per day.

Great point! Though I wonder, them putting that amount of work and money into the complex movie animatronics.. can they be fitted to work reliably for both purposes?

The puppeteers could have been easily swapped out for hydraulics. The director wanted non repetitive movements. This could easily be swapped over to a theme park attraction using computers.

I've seen a few imaginear videos out there, more about Star Wars land, where the imaginears talk about how difficult it is to make an attraction or land as opposed to a movie set. The movie sets are usually plywood, foam and if so plastic thrown out after production as opposed to the attraction or land that is going to be seen close up, touched and ridden by thousands of people for 10+ hours a day 365 days a year. Very interesting.
